Can not get tv sound through my TX-SR608 - Onkyo TX-SR608 Receiver

Connect TV with HDMI cable and select TV from receiver remote. Also optic cable can be used to connect TV.

SAME AS ANY TV,,RCA JACKS,,,OR HDMI,,OR COPONENT JACK,,,SHOULD HAVE ONE OF THOSE ON THAT TV,,GOOD LUCK

If you look on the internet HDMI board failure on these Onkyo's seems quite a regular occurence.

Time to scrap the Onkyo and buy something with a better name - like Yamaha, Denon or Marantz.

So the OSD works and we have no info regarding whatever else you have that involves video. You could revisit the setup for the one(s) that aren't working.

Since I know you can read the first line, I have an answer on the second line!

It's definitely compatible with the iphone 3G and the sr608.

Try looking in the manuals instead of guessing.

Some Onkyo receivers have support for speakers in different rooms, or zones. Make sure your speaker is not set to send the audio signal to Zone B.

If it is a relatively new TV you should use an optical digital audio cable. These are often called "toslink" cables. Plug one end into the "digital audio out" port of your TV, and the other into a free toslink port on the receiver (there are two on the back and a third on the front of the 608).
You should then change the settings on your samsung tv to: - turn the digital audio (s/pdif) output on - allow bitstream output over s/pdif - turn the tv speaker off I am not sure which model Samsung you have, so I can't go into great detail, but I'm sure you will be able to find the relevant settings, most likely under "sound" in your system menu.

lastly, you will probably want to use the input assign page of the onkyo on-screen menu to assign whichever input you use to your TV, and change its name accordingly.
