Check the processor fan is working or not. check its connector. Also check if there is any beep sound.
if processor fan is ok then disconnect all the cables, data and poewer cables. plug the power connector to motherboad only and listen if there is any beep sound there.
tell me after doing this, if problem doesnt solve.
regards,

Desktop or Laptop computer ?

WARNING: Before you start troubleshooting remember that you are dealing with electricity that can KILL.

http://www.kitchentablecomputers.com/static.php - rules

Only work inside the computer case when the power has been switched off and disconnected. Never open the power source.

Test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive IDE,SATA

the leads from your (motherboard to your hard drive) make sure they have secure dust free connections and are not faulty

If its a 40 pin flat ribbon type it will be the first to fail.

Even something as small as a faulty electrical fan and its lead can cause you problems

computers need all power and data to continue through every working device and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error.

Make sure your graphics card is securely seated with no dust built up or in the socket

if you remove your graphics check the socket to make sure its dust free.

Restart your computer then reinstall it this should activate found new hardware wizard

Check the VGA cable connection running from the computer to the monitor.

This cable must be completely inserted into both VGA connection ports, otherwise the video signal is not going to reach the display.

Disconnect the VGA cable from the computer and monitor, then look at the metal connectors on both ends.

If you are missing connection pins, the video signal is not going to transfer between hardware correctly.

Examine the power connection on the monitor.

If the monitor is not receiving power, it is not going to turn on.

Turn off the monitor for a few minutes, then power it back on.

Like other computer hardware, the monitor may not initially turn on correctly.

Move the mouse and press the "Enter" key on the computer keyboard.

If the computer is in sleep mode, the monitor is going to appear as if it does not have any display.

Hope this helps

Push power button, cd drive starts as normal but nothing else. ac light, power light, batt light on. no hard drive light, no monitor

this is a very common problem.
intercept all of cables of your PC case and even power cable of your monitor.
evolve battery of bios then wait for 20 minutes then connect all of cables and try turning on your pc:
1- with battrey of bios
2- without battery of bios
it should work.
(this works cause the motherboard reset it's bios and start correctly again).

Monitor went into power save mode and would not come back on

If your monitor is stuck in power save mode then first of all check all the power cables connected to monitor and your CPU.
After checking the connectors start the monitor if it does not come back from power save mode then lets move towards to second step.

2 . First unplug all the power cables to avoid power shock. After unplugging the power cables open the cabinet and look for the video card on *********** board.

Take the video card out and clean it with a normal eraser.Rub it on the golden pins and clean it.
Place it again at its place.
Close the cabinet and then start your monitor and your problem will be fixed.

My HP Pavillion keyboard lights up but the screen is blank what can i do?

Press num lock key of key board if num lock led is on/off then your cpu gives display to monitor Then make sure monitor cable is connected properly to cpu vga port.
When you power up the cpu press F8 key then enter in "enable vga mode" Then go to start->control panel->display->settings.
Change screen resolution to 1024*768 then apply and ok.
Then check.
But if num lock led is not on/off and left constant then you need to open cpu cabinet.
Refix RAM memory.Pull cmos cell from motherboard for 10 minutes.
Clean dust from all parts.
Reattach processor and it's fan.
Make sure motherboard is not ground with cabinet.
Open motherboard from cabinet and try outside of cabinet.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Ok i just got an AMD am2 690g motherboard with 2.1Ghz phenom2 CPU and a hard drive and some other things and i hooked it all up properly but it was put into a gateway case and the power cables dont fit so...

Does the monitor take power from the SMPS of the PC? If yes then your forcing the power cable may have disconnected the monitor's power connection from the main. Check it up by powering the monitor on some other PC. Your keyboard and the mouse may be OK. If possible take the power for the monitor from the wall socket, that way you can switch the monitor on and off without rebooting the PC. Reason is that the monitor's kickoff power requirement is so much that it trips the PC. Even 1/100 of a second is enough to trip it.

Hard disk

Sounds like loose cabling within the case. Power down the system. Unplug the power cord from the PC. Open the case. Check every data cable & power cable in the PC. (Need good connections).
SATA hard drive data cable & SATA power cables can easly come loose, unlike IDE cabling which are unlikely to come loose. Banging the PC case will cause damage sooner or later! Run windows system defrag on the drive. (Also run windows Disk Cleanup). This should help speed up programs running slowly. Like a TV, PC's get dusty & dirty within the PC case. Once every couple of months, you should open the case & blow out any build up of dust. (Check connections before closing case).
If you're SATA data cable seems snug. Try cleaning the cable contact ends with alcohol & a cotton swab. (Both ends of the cable). Allow time for the alcohol to dry before reconnecting.

Good Luck!
