If you're experiencing issues with the computer panel and resistance on your Fitness Quest Edge 491r exercise bike, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
Check Battery Contacts: Make sure the battery contacts within the computer panel are clean and free from corrosion. Dirty contacts can interfere with proper electrical connections. Clean the contacts if necessary.
Proper Battery Installation: Ensure that the batteries are installed correctly, with the correct polarity (+ and -) aligned according to the markings in the battery compartment.
Reset the Computer: Sometimes, resetting the computer panel can help resolve issues. This might involve removing the batteries, waiting for a minute or so, and then reinstalling the batteries.
Check Wiring and Connections: If there are visible wires connecting the computer panel to the resistance mechanism, make sure they are securely connected and not damaged.
Calibration: Some exercise equipment requires calibration after battery replacement. Check your user manual to see if your Fitness Quest Edge 491r requires any calibration steps after changing batteries.
Sensor Alignment: There might be a sensor that reads the resistance level. Make sure it's properly aligned and not obstructed by anything.
Contact Customer Support: If none of the above steps work, it's advisable to contact Fitness Quest customer support. They might be able to provide specific troubleshooting steps or suggest further actions.
Professional Assistance: If you're not comfortable performing troubleshooting yourself, consider seeking assistance from a professional technician who specializes in fitness equipment repairs.
I have the same problem. I called Sony Support and a new Touchscreen digitizer (the touch-sensitive glass pane that sits on top of the LCD screen) costs about $76. That's just for the part. Haven't been able to find another solution. I took the liberty of taking my unit apart and taking out the shattered screen, now all I need is a replacement, but Sony's is too expensive for me. Maybe it will work for you though
