Screen won't work!!!

Hello,
My cpu is just about a year old and the screen won't turn on! I'm pretty sure that the actual cpu is fine because the lights are normal and it sounds like it's starting up fine but when i hooked it up to the tv you still couldn't see the screen! Could you please help me?

You could have a faulty video controller.
With laptops you can switch between the LCD and the external video connector, to switch between the LCD and external connector you need to press and hold down the Fn key and press one of the Function keys, (maybe F4, F6, F7 etc) to toggle between LCD and the external connector.
If you can get a video signal to the external connector, it would indicate the video card is probably OK.
then the fault could be the LCD and or the Back lighting on the LCD.

My Sony Vaio PCG-61611L won't power on, the battery is fully charged and AC adapter is working (green light goes on). Please help!

OverheatingWhen the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermaloverload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is theproblem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make surethe vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed airto do this.

My cpu fan is not working in my Gigabyte GA-8ST667 system can anyone tell me why am sure the cpu fan is good

Hello elscomputers: If you are sure that there is no other issue with the motherboard -- It was working before the CPU Fan/Heatsink stopped working. Other than making sure that it is correctly connected as shown below -- attached to Pin 1 with all three pins connected (not off to the side by one pin), you can assume it's bad (they do wear out). The cost of a new cooler is pretty minimal and I would just replace it.

No POST/Black Screen

Believe it or not, clearing the CMOS might actually help. Make sure you do it right by completely unplug the power cord or turn off the PSU, then take the battery out.

It also sounds like the CPU might be too hot. Look under the fan of the heatsink and see if there is any dust that will block the airflow. When the computer is on, touch the heatsink and feel if it is really warm. If it is really warm, it's a good sign, you might just need more airflow. If it is cold, you might need to reinstall the heatsink/apply new thermal compounds.

CPU Fan not running

If the system is a couple of years old, the fan may be clogged with dust so the blade can't turn; these little suckers don't have much torque.
You can find the little fan pretty easy since (unless you have a high-end video or sound card) it will be the only one actually on the system board.
If you know how to access the BIOS on your particular computer, you may have one that monitors the CPU temperature and tells you in degrees.

Watch the screen at bootup for a message about entering 'Setup.'
This will give you the key to press and it often must be done very quickly; it's often F1 or F2.
Some BIOS will call the function Advanced or System something.

Don't make any changes you don't understand and when you exit, don't 'Save' any changes.
