Question about Microsoft MS Xbox 360 Common Controller (DHC8G00004)

1 Answer

XBox control My xbox control on gears of war, keeps on "spinning". When i press the B button, it stops, and the left stick does not work for me to walk. On any car game, I only get the side view, but if i press B i get the normal view from the back. I've tried to reconnecting the control, but nothing. I also put new batteries. Could something be stuck in the remote? I do not have the right tools to open it. Please help. Thanks

Is it spinning in-game, or is the actual stick on the controller "spinning?" If it is the stick spinning, than it is most likely broken.

Left analog stick drifting left

Hello Iwn666,

There could multiple things wrong, and hopefully nothing serious. Here is a complete list of some problems and solutions that can be wrong with the analog stick.

1. The Left analog stick may be sticky. If you eat greasy foods while playing your Xbox 360 console, try to avoid this from now on. Grease from food particles may slip into the analog stick, and make it sticky, causing the analog to move constantly to one fixed position. Please look at the next problem and solution ahead before attempting to remove your controller with a screwdriver. Here is a complete guide on how to access the inside of an Xbox controller.

----------

2. There may be a simple glitch in configuration. Try turning off your Xbox 360 controller by holding the Xbox Guide button for approx 4 seconds untill a menu comes up. Select "Turn off controller". After doing so, try turning on your controller again. If the problem persists, there may be a greasy analog stick, or an object that broke that holds the analog stick together. All 4 lights keep on blinking on my controller

You may need to "Sync" the controller to your Xbox console.

1) Press the sync button on your Xbox 360. The green lights on the Xbox will swirl.
2) Press the small white button on the controller (between the bumper buttons).

After a few seconds, the position 1 green LED should light up on the controller.

The lights keep blinking but nothing is happening. It wont connect to the console. What should I do?

It's possible the xbox 360 controller isn't connected to the xbox 360. Turn the xbox 360 on by pressing the power button, and wait until it reaches the dash board. Then press the controller syncing button on the xbox 360 itself and wait until the xbox 360's ring lights start to spin around. Then press and hold the synch button on the controller (located near the charge port) and the controller should synch up with the xbox 360.

I have a wireless controller that won't connect with my Xbox 360. The batteries are not dead, and whenever I press the button to turn on the controller it just keeps blinking instead of showing that it is...

sync the controler to the xbox. there is a small button on the top of the controller next to the plug in for the cord. push that button along with the button next to the reciving eye on the consel. push them both at teh samt time until they stop spinning and start flashing as if they had low batterys.

Im trying to find out how to use controllers on a another xbox my boy only has 1 control so i bought mine it doesent seem to work how do i get it set

You have to sync the controller. Push the sync button that is inline with or located right next to the memory card slots on the front of your XBox. When you push this button, the ring of lights will spin. At this time push the small button on the top of your controller and the Xbox Guide button light will spin as well. You are now synced.

My wireless xbox controller keeps blinking green but won't connect

Have you tried leaving your console OFF first, and then Holding down the CENTER [X} button to turn your console on?

Usually that always works, I usually disconnect the battery clip and reconnect it (to turn it off) when it keeps blinking and does not connect.

Then I hold down the center button on the controller and move the left analog stick around in circles while it's blinking, and it usually recognizes it a lot faster when I do this.

-If the above does not work, disconnect the battery clip on the controller again and put it back in,

-But first (before powering on the controller) press and hold the tiny -sync- button on your xbox (while it's on),
-and then turn on your controller, and hold down the sync button on your controller, and move the anolog stick around while it does this also.

If the above does not solve your problem, I'm sorry, but I tried.

Wireless controller position

Try this:
Under heading "How can I change the screen positions for my wireless controllers?"
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemuse/xbox360/resources/supportfaq.htm

To reset the screen configuration for an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller:
  1. Turn off your Xbox 360 console and any connected Xbox 360 wireless controllers.

(To turn off your wireless controller, power down the system and wait for the lights around the controller's Xbox Guide button to disappear.)
  2. Manually turn on your Xbox 360—don't use your controller's Xbox Guide button.
  3. Press the connect button on the front of your console. This is the small button just to the right of (or below, if your console is on its side) the port for Memory Unit B. The lights around the console's power button will flash as the console searches for a wireless controller.
  4. Press and hold the Xbox Guide button to turn on the wireless controller that you want to assign to slot one.
  5. Once the controller is on and the lights are still circling the power button on the console, press your controller's connect button, located just to the right of the charge port.

When the lights on your controller stop spinning, the wireless controller is configured to slot one and the upper-left quadrant light will glow.
  6. Select the controller you want in slot two and repeat steps 4 and 5. You can configure up to four wireless controllers.
