You mean how to create a wireless security key on the router? Or how to get the key?

To enable wireless security on the router.

    1. Connect your laptop hardwired to the router first on port 1. Open Internet Explorer, on the Address Bar type http://192.168.1.1 and press Enter.

    2. It will prompt you for username and password. Leave it blank on username and type admin for the password and hit OK.

    3. Click on Wireless tab at the top. Then below that, there's a sub-tab called Wireless Security, click that.

    4. Look for Security Mode and choose WPA-Personal. Type a password on the WPA Shared Key box. The password needs to be at least 8 characters. Then Click on Save Settings at the bottom.

    5. On your laptop, connect to a wireless network. It will ask you for a network key and that's the password that you've just careated on the WPA Shared key.

If you just wanna know your network key, do the ff steps:

    4. If the Security Mode is set to WPA-Personal, your network key is the code on the WPA Shared Key box. If the Security Mode is set to WEP, your network key is the code on the WEP Key 1 box.

    Hope that helps.

Can't get wi-fi connection

There are a number of reasons why you may not get a wi-fi connection:

  1. No connection available
  2. Poor signal strength
  3. Wi-fi on device not turned on
  4. Faulty wi-fi driver in device
  5. Using wrong wi-fi security password
  6. Router has your MAC address blocked
  7. Faulty wi-fi module in device

If you can give specifics on what you have tried and what the results are we may be able to narrow down the possibilities.

Turn on my wireless wi fi on my lap top saying my lan in os is off

On many laptops, there is an external switch to turn the wi-fi on/off. This is normally found on the front or sides of the laptop case. It can be easy to turn off the wi-fi accidentally if you grab your laptop a certain way that causes you to press the switch.

On some laptops, you will find the wi-fi on/off switch by raising the laptop screen to expose the keyboard. The switch may often be found by looking at the area above the keyboard. In almost every case, the wi-fi on/off switch will be lit if the wi-fi is on, and unlit if the wi-fi is turned off.

Wi fi button

Look carefully on your "Function" keys example, F1, F2, F3 to F12 that are located above your keyboard. On each function keys, there is an icon. One of those is wi-fi. Find which function key has the wi-fi icon then find key to activate those functions. It is called "Fn" key (located in the bottom of your keyboard near "Ctrl" or "Alt"). Now press and hold "Fn" + "F#" then release. This should turn on your wi-fi. On mine, I have wi-fi on "F8" so I would press "Fn" + "F8".
