Question about Pioneer VSX-D710S Receiver

Component assignable outlets

I have connected a new HDD/DVD to my Pioneer VSX D710S amp. Via the component (assignable) digital points.

It does not show on my plasma. However if I connect the leads from the HDD/DVD direct to the Plasma it works.

When connecting to the assignable points, do you have to do something else. or program it???

How can I connect an analog turntable to my Pioneer VSX-D710S? Also, do I need a turntable with a built in pre-amp?

According to the specs there aren't any phono inputs which would have their own preamp. Everything else is line level so I'm pretty sure you'll need a preamp either between the turntable and one of the line level inputs or built into the turntable.

I had the same sort of problem with my DVD player. I tried another one and it worked for both video and audio so I concluded the old DVD had bitten the dust. Make sure you hook up the other DVD (that works) in the same manner as the one that doesn't work so you limit the parameters to whether the old one works or not.

HDMI signal from DVD can not be down converted to analog component signal.
Connect your new DVD to a component input 1..4. Make sure that component input assigned to desired input (dvd/vcr/sat/) (setup - input setup - input - component assign - component x etc). Connect coax output of DVD to coax x input of the receiver and assign it (setup- input setup - "input" - digital assign ..). Probably you need to setup DVD output resolution to 720i or 720p in dvd setup menu.

Pioneer VSX-D710S and the message SP off and DTS off message appear and I have no sound. Any ideas how to turn them back on?

The SP off message is the setting for turning the speakers off while headphones are connected on some Pioneer models. If yours is one such model, hold down the RECEIVER button and press the SPEAKER (text may be written above another main function) button on the remote simultaneously and the sound should return.

Hello,I have a Pioneer VSX-D710S 5.1 reciever get hot and smell l

Heatsinks on mosfets are probably not connected, or broke connection. If you are not trained in electronics dont go poking and proding around in there, a capacitor can easily kill you. If you have some knowledge open it up and see if you see and burnt components etc. You may just need new heatsink grease etc. Does it have a fan that stopped working? If a piece is visually fried take the unit to your local electronic repair shop and see if they can solder in a new part if available. depending on the price of the amp, it would be ebetter to go spend money on a new one.

Pioneer vsx-d510 coaxial dvd connection problem

Hello,
I recommend you use an optical connection. Your VSX-D510 has only one optical input, but I believe it is assignable. Use a good optical cable and connect directly to your DVR. Follow the manual to assign the input and it should work.
Good luck
