If you actually need the entire power adapter, that's a bit more complicated. There are a lot of online vendors, but I'd need to know your location and "risk tolerance" to give you the best purchasing options.
following this link i've found resetting instructions for this scanner:
1.. Disconnect the USB cable and the power cable from the scanner. Make sure the power cable is still connected to the power source. 2.. Press the Scan and Email buttons at the same time, while plugging the power cable back into the scanner. The scanner will enter a Demo Mode. 3.. Press the Cancel button on the scanner to start the test. 4.. To end the test, disconnect and reconnect the power cable without holding the buttons down.
I've had exactly the same problem with my scanjet 5400c (blue distorted images) but after resetting the scanner (see instuctions posted above) the problem was fixed
