Internet interface trying to reestablish the connection.

I am using an hp pavilion 322n. The internet interface sometimes drops the link to the ISP, then when I tell it to reestablish a connection, it dials a number I didn't tell it to use. It can't find a modem or get connected and I would guess there isn't any such number.

I have a hp pavilion a1140n and i cant set up wireless internet in my house what do i do

To have wireless internet you would need a (cable or DSL modem depending upon your ISP. A wireless router (doesn't matter which brand) Also for a desktop computer you will need to buy and install a wireless NIC (network interface card) as desktops almost never come with one, only a hardwired NIC (cabled)

I can't figure out how to connect to the internet. I added the network and everything, yet it won't connect. What do I do?

Hi,

I just want to know are you using wired connection or wireless?

If you're connecting using wireless try going to this link on how you can setup your wireless connection.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Setting-up-a-wireless-network

I suggest try to call your ISP to setup your network connection.

Since getting a new Dell laptop and Linksys E1000 (also have HP desktop), my internet connection keeps dropping (no problems ever before)- sometimes I can stay online for 2-3 hours or it can go in 15...

Hi,

we need to first figure out whether it the modem or the router which is dropping the connection.

Please connect one of your computer directly to the modem, by pass the router and access the internet. If the connection drops then its the modem which is dropping the connection and you need to contact your isp to check it.

If the internet works fine directly with the modem then its your router which is dropping the connection. To fix the router we can upgrade it firmware.

To upgrade the firmware please visit the link below;
http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/linksys/E1000

Note; If you are not comfortable upgrade the firmware then don’t do it. If not done properly then it can damage your router.

Can not connect with internet

  1. Unplug the power to the network router and to the ISP or DSL modem.
  2. Wait 30 seconds before continuing.
  3. Reconnect the power to the modem and allow it reestablish a connection to the ISP.
  4. Reconnect the power to the router and allow it to reestablish the connections to the modem and other components.
  5. Turn on the computer and allow it to reestablish the IP address connections to the router and the modem.

Internet connection dropping out

Hi powergirl_18

The problem is that your router is trying to connect to the ISP's DNS IP and it's not always connecting. This is a common problem (especially with Cable subsribers Road Runner) You will need to log into your router and go to the Basic Setting and manually put in a DNS number that will work. You should contact your ISP to obtain the IP that will work. If not you can try 209.15.151.2. That's a dedicated DNS, and sometimes it works, and sometimes not. You really need to get a good one from your ISP.

Good Luck

Internet/network problems

Connecting the laptop to your network using a network cable, does this solve your Internet problems?
Does this works without the Internet connection dropping out?
If the wireless connection has a low signal, try positioning the wireless router or the laptop to get a better signal strength.
Also try reinstalling your wireless driver.

Cicso router 1841 not connecting to the internet

When using Public IP addresses on one interface, usually facing your ISP, and using Private IP addresses (AKA RFC 1918) on another interface, usually facing your LAN, one needs to utilize network address translation (NAT) in order to connect LAN computing resources to the Internet.
Cisco has a fantastic article on how to perform the necessary procedures on their web site.
