Replace the power supply or the motherboard of your laptop, if your laptop still has its own warranty try to call the technical support of your laptop manufacturer and asked them to replace your power supply or motherboard. But if you dont have any warranty from your manufacturer, you must still call them to purchase a new power supply or motherboard.

My laptop wont turn on or charge i bought a new charger and it still wont work how can i fix it?

When you connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED light up? If not then -
The battery adapter or the adapter's power lead or the laptop's power socket could be faulty.
Check power adapter’s DC plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced.
If the adapter is OK then connect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard.
This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.

Cd dvd door wont open.i push the button to put in cd and nothing happens.i do see a little cd on screen ,then it goes away.

Hi,
On the front of most CD or DVD drives there is a small pin hole that you can use to open the drive if it gets stuck. Grab yourself a strong paper clip, straighten one end, insert the straight bit into the hole and push firmly once you feel some resistance.
This will partly open the drive tray to either allow you to remove a cd or insert a new cd or dvd.
Question, Is there a light lit on the front of the drive when you are:
a. trying to eject (instead of using the front button on the drive try using the "Right Click and then Eject" option when selecting the dvd drive in My Computer), If not the drive may be stuffed (broken) or perhaps the 4 pin power connection lead at the rear of the dvd drive has fallen out.
b. is the drive tray sticky when opening or closing? (get a new drive...very easy and very cheap to buy and replace)
Good luck,
Steve (Melbourne,Australia)

Wont eject

Look at the drive there should be a tiny pin hole near the eject button, insert a needle (safety pin, sewing, etc.) into the pin hole and push this opens the drive.
You can also try opening my computer and right clicking the DVD drive and select eject.

E machine 510 wont charge!

Yes, remove the battery from the laptop.

Plug-in power adapter and turn ON laptop (without battery).

After the laptop starts up and Windows has settled, put battery back in the laptop.

Allow to charge for a few hours.

PC wont turn on

It is possible that you have a bad power supply, if you have another computer that you can switch the power supply to test it, or you can go to your computer store and get a power supply tester. I would first try to make sure that the power supply is working properly.

Laptop will not charge, the green light on power lead is on but my laptop wont charge it is a acer aspire 5315 with vista

Okay, It can be 1 of 2 problems here:

1. Your laptop battery is completly dead, this can be caused by the overcharging of the battery, You may need to buy a new battery.

2. The battery charger is set at a voltage that can keep the laptop running, but not charge the battery at the same time, try a different charger (universal)

Laptop does not seem to charge when I plug the charging lead in. Occasionally it will work if you twist/turn the head of the lead. Need to know if its a lead or laptop problem

Hi,

If it works part of the time, then chances are that it is a minor problem. Your options then are:
  • AC adapter plug. To check, use a DVM while the adapter is plug into the mains. Measure the output voltage while bending/twisting the junction of the wire to the plug. Voltage reading should not cut out and remain steady. If not, the plug has to be replaced and the wire cut about an inch from the junction;
  • If the adapter's plug checks OK, then it would be the jack of the laptop. Often problem would be a loose connection or a cold solder. This is a relatively easy repair, however, what is more demanding is opening the casing of the laptop and exposing the bottom side of the board in order to re-solder the jack pins to the board.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Check for a sticky key on your keyboard, maybe a piece of something fell in there. Be very gentle with it though!

Toshiba laptop A130/A135

Try this disconnect laptop from power, remove latop battery. Wait ten mins and connect everything back.

If the problem is that dvd is stuck inside use a pin or a staple , stick it into the emergency opening hole until it opens the door on dvd drive on laptop.
