Oven heats up but will start beeping with F3 error or will just shut off. It did not start doing this till the broiler element busted inside while hot. Could this have done something?

GE Gives F3 code, broiler won’t turn off. Temp sensor measures 1100 ohms. Element measures 16 ohms. Starting oven with broiler element removed still sends F3. What to check next? Also, is it safe...

Hello. From the symptoms you describe, your main control board(EOC) is damaged. There are relays on the board that handle the heavy amp load of the heating elements(you don't have 400 amps going thru your key switch when you start your car--same applies to your oven) These relays can burn up, have the contacts shorted together, or the main board can become corrupted due to power surges(storm damage).
The F3 error is a temp error. In an oven, NORMALLY, only the main board and the temp sensor control the oven temp. In 98% of oven temp sensors, the proper ohm reading at room temp is 1100 ohms of resistance(+/- 10%).
Did you have a power outage or "brownout" within the last 4-6 weeks? This is not written in stone but USUALLY, if the board was damaged by a current surge, the chips on the board will start to fail in that time frame. If you give me the make and model of your unit, I can look up the part number and price for you. I hope I wasn't too long-winded and helped you!!

My frigerdaire oven heats for a while about 15-30 minutes then shuts down with a beeping noise and a f3 code.

Good Afternoon Friend,

I see that your Frigidaire double oven heats up for about 15-30 minutes, then shuts down and begins beeping while showing an F3error code. The F3 states that the oven is sensing a potential runaway temperature. This is possibly a sensor issue or it could be a false error code.

I suggest giving your double oven a hard reset by cutting the power at the circuit breaker for at least 2-3 minutes.

After restoring power you will need to reset the clock. You will do this by entering in the time and pressing start.

Let the oven heat up, and if you are still receiving an F3 error code, I suggest either contacting the manufacturer or contacting your local authorized technician to diagnose your appliance. Hope this helps.

-Best Regards-

F3-error. Kenmore classic oven Heating element will not go pass 100 deg. Heating element recently replaced. Broiler is also malfunctioning

Hello there:
Whenever you get the dreaded f-3 code this is the code that tells you that the temperature sensor is going bad or already has gone bad and needs to be replaced immediatly. It should look something like this and cost about 50 dollars

E2 F3 Error code and the broiler comes on and will not shut off

The F3 E2 error code indicates that the electronic oven control board in the range senses an over-temperature condition in the oven.

This can be caused by a failed temperature sensor probe, a wiring problem between the sensor and the control board, or a failed electronic oven control board.
If the oven is apparently not overheating when this error code appears, then your likely failure is the temperature sensor probe.
If the oven is overheating, then you likely have a failed electronic oven control board due to a stuck relay not cycling the oven heating element off properly.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

F3 code

It's your oven temperature sensor. It's a thin metal stick that juts into the oven. It is located on the upper right back wall of the oven cavity. Flip your breaker, slide out the oven. You install it from the back, very simple, two screws, i think. I'm a beginner at DIY and had no problem fixing it.
