Question about iRiver H10 MP3 Player

2 Answers

I can't connect my iriver h10 to the computer.

Recently when I connected my iriver h10 to the computer, the computer said that my device cannot be recognised but now, it cant even detect my h10. Usually when I connect my h10 to the computer& on it, there would be a red light on the cable. But now, as soon as I turn my iriver on, the red light disappears. Does there something wrong with my computer or is it the iriver's spoilt?

Okay, I had the exact problem and I finally came up with the solution.

Checklist: Latest Firmware (download and instructions available on Iriver's website)
Windows Media Player 10 (install the latest version, if you have the latest version then the file will notify you and will not require an installation, be certain that you are not using Windows Media Player 11)
Windows XP Profession, or Windows XP Home Office
Service Pack 2 (Free download on microsoft website. Instructions for determining whether or not you have these are listed on Iriver's website under the support tab under audio jukebox support)

After you're sure that you meet all of the checklist proceed

Step 1: With H10 disconnected turn on the unit, scroll down to settings, select extra, select database refresh. Try reconnecting the device. This step worked for my desktop, but not for my laptop.

Step 2:If windows still doesn't detect the Iriver, then you're going to need to download Windows Media Format 11 from Microsofts website. If this doesn't work try another database refresh, this did it for me on 2 different players.

Good luck.

IRIVER WONT WORK AAAAHHH HELP!!!!!? my iriver wont work when i try to turn it on it comes up and says system files missing to restore the system files, connect to iriver plus wat dose that mean i have...

Hello,

When system files are missing on the player, you will need to reinstall the FIRMWARE.

When looking online for the connection type for the H10 / H10JR, I can see 2 CONNECTION TYPES for the H10 / H10JR:
1. MTP, when using Windows Media Player 11 ( WMP11 ), for the H10.
2. iRiver Plus, when using iRiver PLUS, for the H10JR.

The connection type determines what software on the computer will be used for transferring media.
Each software on the computer needs corresponding firmware on the player to be installed.
When the player itself comes up with the information to connect to iRiver PLUS, this is the correct software for this device probably. Then the device is a H10JR.

When not having the program iRiver PLUS, go to the iRiver support site, for the download:
http://www.iriver.com/flash/index.asp?code=0302
In the left column click Plus3 and go for the download.
Run iriver plus 3 and then select [Tools > Portable Device > Firmware Upgrade] from the menu.

Need more help ? Just post a comment.
In case you have the other model player, the H10, let me know if you need assistance for its recovery.

System files missing

I got this from another post:

1) plugged in H10 to pc that didn't have any iriver software on it
a) I've read if you press the "o" button on the iRiver H10 when connecting it will just connect as a usb mass storage device
2) the H10 now appears as a mass storage device
3) right click on the drive, and select format ( I choose quick format)
4) install the iRiverFirmware updater from http://iriveramerica.com/support/mtpupdate/
5) when you run the updater, it found the H10, then asked if the device was from USA or Europe, mine was from Europe
6) It stated that the iRiver firmware was v0.0, and would install v2.51 (I've seen v2.53 available on the european iriver website but could not download it).
7) proceed with installing the updated firmware
8) on the last screen it says, unplug to complete firmware update - NOTE press Finish first before unplugging
9) switching on the iRiver it 'rebooted' a few times and then when the menu appeared, I connected to the pc and just dropped some mp3 files into the music directory and all was okay.

hope this helps.
Also go here for the firmware directly: http://iriverinc.com/support/hd/h10_5-6gb.aspx

Iriver h10 20gb not recognized in UMS

I sometimes have to reset my iRiver in order for my Mac to see it. I have an h10 5gb, to do this, I have to remove the battery then reconnect the battery. Then I connect it the usual way to get into the UMS mode. But I think with yours it has it's own reset button. If it was working and now has stopped, I would think you just need to reset it and try again.

iRiver H10 - Missing System Files
You must be connected to the internet for this to work: 1.Download the MTP Firm Updater Utility from iriver website - iriverinc.com/support (Audio Jukebox --> H10) 2. Unzip file, run .exe file, go thorugh wizard (if you are not in mass storage mode, it will give you instructions on the wizard on how to change this) 3. Select Recovery 4. Finish going through wizard 5. disconnect iRiver from computer, and wait for it to update - your player should be good.
If the problem happens again, then uninstall Windows Media Player 11 from your computer and rollback to Windows Media Player 10 (you will NOT lose any songs by doing so).
Good luck!
