Hi boulderbound!

What you need to do is to call Acer or go to their service center since they have the driver for your laptop. But the most fastest solution will be going to acer.com and download the necessary drivers for your laptop.

Acer Aspire is locked up and has a red box in lower left corner

Make sure the batteries are inserted correctly and have charge if applicable
usually located on the underside of the mouse there might be small plastic sticker with a phillips head screw under it rub your fingernail over the top to see if it has a screw or make sure the usb device is properly inserted for wireless the usb or Ps2 connection are secure with a dust free connection
or it might be the usb for wireless mouse or lead connecting to the usb port or even a faulty mouse if this does not fix the problem Restart you computer tap the f8 key repeatedly to enter safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you an attempt to repair your computer If done properly the user should get to a screen similar to the below screen. Select the option for Safe mode command prompt only Windows Advanced Options Menu
Please select an option: Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt Enable Boot Logging
Enable VGA mode
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)

Acer M1100 is stuck in power save mode

Restart your computer
During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup usually the Delete or F2 key
this will vary depending on your computer and operating system

Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS using the arrow keys load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart
if this fails to fix the problem

During the boot process tap the f8 button three times this will boot into safe mode where the only things working will be your mouse and keyboard enabling you to attempt to repair your computer

you could select the option start at last known configuration that worked this will tell what file has been corrupted or missing you might be able to work your way through problem if you are unable to find a solution

restart back into safe mode you might need to select your operating system to load into safe mode

click start control panel administration tools computer management in the left panel events + to expand then system you will see all errors in right panel right click select properties this will tell you what has occurred and the time it occurred

you might use the system restore to restore your system to an earlier time
click start all programs accessories system tools you should see your system restore option

hope this helps

Keyboard not typing properly when pressing

When pressing what? Maybe the keyboard has been hijacked by a virus or infection. Maybe the keyboard is going bad.

Have you tried booting up in Safe Mode to see if the keyboard acts the same way?

Go to www.google.com and in the search box type:"download.cnet.com" (without the quotes). Click the link to goto the site and look on the left side when the site opens up and you will see agray area that says FIND SOFTWARE. In the white search box under FindSoftware type: "Virtual Keyboard" (without the quotes) and click themirror to search. When the search results come back look for FREE VIRTUALKEYBOARD. Download and Install it. It's totally FREE. Alsouncheck anything that pops up other than the license agreement during thedownload and installation. You only want the Free Keyboard and not theother junk.

You can use it to solve your keyboard problem. Just open up whatever it is youwant to type on such as the web address in an browser, a word document, etc.,then open the Free Virtual Keyboard and it will sit on top of whatever you weredoing. You can move it around so that it is not in your way also.

My keyboard in my revo rl100 doesn't work

Sounds like the battery in the keyboard is dead. Also make sure you have the wireless doggle that came with the keyboard and mouse plugged into the usb port. You might try plugging it into another port.

I'm thinking your keyboard is dead because of the battery or a virus has hijacked your keyboard.

Try booting up in Safe Mode to make sure it's not virus related. Turn the computer off, then turn it on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFE MODE. Select the Safe Mode option and let it boot up. Safe Mode will look different because the icons are bigger and the screen is darker, this is normal. If your keyboard works in safe mode then you might have a virus that can't function in safe mode.

There will be a button above the touch pad or using function key to disable it. try both and find out which is the prob. Some drivers may not installed properly. Run the touchpad driver in administrator mode and if you are having the xp driver set to xp sp3 compatible mode.
