Client wants to use Sharp AR-C160 color copier as an AS/400 printer. Nothing
that I tried
works. Looks like we need a PTF to allow *IBMSNMPDRV as SYSSRVPGM.
Does anybody knows the needed PTF number?
Model 170 V4R3
Thanks

Hi Roger
We've connected the AS400 to a number of photocopiers including,
albeit a mono model, the Sharp.
First try with the Sharp and we could get nothing to work. Then we
found that there were two ethernet ports. We left the network as it
was and put a jetdirect on the other port. It then worked straight out
of the box for plain text 132/198 and 120 portrait form overlays. We
had to redesign the landscape form overlays to match the text, but
once we did that it was all ok. We use customised wscst objects for
our forms.
The simplest photocopier we've used is the Canon ir2200-3300 and the
worst is the Canon ir5000 which we have never got to work properly. We
get plain text out without any problems but form overlays just refuse
to work.
Sorry about the Canon ir5000 rant.
Cheers
Neil

Search : Sharp
Look at LPR.
You have to create a remote outq.

Hi all
In my earlier post, in this thread, I said that the Canon ir5000 was
the worst to connect to the AS400. Well the third Canon engineer has
now sorted it out.
All he did was to set the personality to "pcl", the default setting is
"automatic".
Our customer is now a very happy owner of a Canon ir5000.
Cheers
Neil
