Before I can answer this fully we need to know what is the P/N AND MODEL NUMBER on the bottom of the laptop. There is a difference in those models. Compaq had a big problem with the wrong model names on the laptops.

Attention: The number appearing on the front of your notebook may be incorrect for obtaining product support. This document will assist you in locating your exact model number to improve your support experience.

How to find the Model Number and Product Number printed on the Service Tag A printed Service Tag, as shown below, is attached to the bottom of every HP and Compaq notebook manufactured since 2000. Turn the notebook up-side-down to read the information on the tag. There may be some visual differences, but the tag on your PC should look similar to the sample Service Tag shown below. The sample Service Tag, identifies these three important pieces of information. Use the Model Number to locate documents, drivers, and support for your notebook. Identifier Name Example Description 1 Model Number (shown in area below the bar codes) dv9095xx The Model Number is unique to the hardware components, and is the most useful for finding drivers and support content. 2 Product Number (p/n) RQ877AS When using the Product Number to find a part or driver, enter only the letters and numbers before the # sign. 3 Product Name (Product) HP Pavilion dv9000 The Product Name (also seen on the front of your notebook) is not useful, as there may be duplication across several PC models. You should record these numbers, in a convenient place, so that you have the information when it is needed to find drivers, read documents, or order parts. If the tag is no longer attached to the bottom of the notebook, use the Auto-detection function (below) to locate the model number electronically. I would like to upgrade - a382875.jpg

Hello,

Here is a link to what ram options you have for your laptop. Also, the 2400 is probably just a series number on the receipt, because they may sell more models in that family.

Thanks

DAMN it man, just use the memory calculators all the vendors like micron (Crucial.com memory) provide.  Your receipt is more specific; v2000 is just a model class, like F1 for pickups.

How to add RAM TO MY COMPAQ Presario CQ56

First make sure that you can upgrade RAM on that type (look in the users manual), then buy the correct type and open up the machine. The user manual will also show you were they are installed.

I have a compaq presario cq60-215dx notebook pc, was wondering how do i go about upgrading the RAM?

I have checked the Compaq Presario CQ60-215DX Specification It Originally has 2GB Memory and supports upto 4GB RAM max. If you intend to upgrade the RAM, you can buy additional RAM and put them in you system. Here is the HP Guide to Replace RAM and How to Upgrade RAM Guide
Compaq Presario CQ60-215DX has two RAM slots for DDR-2 (533 or 667) Memory Modules. First you have to check that the RAM slot is available for additional RAM. I believe that it has two modules of 1GB each in both slots. So, you have to get two modules of RAM 2GB each to upgrade to 4GB (or one 2GB RAM module to upgrade to 3GB). Hence, it is recommended that you get 2GB replacement module for each 1GB module you have on you system from local laptop repair/ service center, which would be cost effective as existing 1GB RAM Modules would be useless for you upon upgrade.

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.

Good Luck!
Appreciate generously, if the solution could have been of any help!

Laptops are usless for playing games. They may play some low quality games but there is really nothing you can do to upgrade a laptop to make it suitable for playing games. If you are planning on playing PC Games, buy a good Desktop Computer.

V2000 is the base series. Looks like the 2418AU was an Aus/NZ model. I think all the info you asked about can be found here. http://www.4allmemory.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=search.memorySearch&model_id=52637&pid=500&kwd=Compaq%20Presario%20V2000%20Ad%202&gclid=CNv0rK-f35QCFQOIFQodt3z7SA

Not saying to buy from there but gives you the general idea.

Please repost if this helps you....
