IF the above doesnt work, try restalling windows. You may need to fromat, so boot in safe mode, or download knoppix first and make backups. use the backup disks and software wise the computer will be just like you bought it :D

Try booting into safe mode, tap F8 really fast before you computer boots. You should be able to log in and view your files.

If that doesn't work try this: http://articles.techrepublic.com.com/5100-10878_11-6031733.html

My computer keeps telling me that my files are corrupt but i still can log on to the internet, windows pop up on every screen log on to.EVERY FILE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi yolandaskidm...
Sounds like you have a virus or maybe a trojan/worm/etc. on your computer.
Go to the following website, download, install and run Microsoft Safety Scanner.
After you have it installed the run the program, it may take quite a while to complete depending on how many files you have on your computer.
Once you have it installed you will run Microsoft Safety Scanner.
It will remove the virus/trojan/worm,etc from your machine for FREE.
If it does not get rid of the virus/trojan/worm/etc then a window will open and allow you to contact a Microsoft professional (FREE) and he will take over your machine (with your permission) and remove it for you for FREE.
Please take time to rate me

Tip

How to download torrents or files SAFLEY

Many torrents or files downloaded from Lime wire, Bit torrent, and other torrent programs have viruses on them. There is a way to combat this so that these viruses cannot harm your computer. All you need is a flash drive or external hard drive. When you decide to download a file or torrent download on to the drive rather than your pc. Once it has been downloaded use a anti-virus program to scan the file. If the file is corrupt with a virus you can safely delete it. Should you open the file without scanning it and it does contain a virus don't worry there is still hope. Since the file is saved on a external drive or flash drive just reformat the drive and your computer will still be safe.

My computer is freezing at seemingly random times. The audio will stutter on a very short loop of half a second or less. The monitor will freeze and mouse and keyboard input are ignored by the computer....

hi Mr. David , One of the software of your PC is not working good , although we are using anti virus for protection still other software are affected , save your file to drive D or on a flash drive and re-install windows , There are two partitions Drive C where windows are being installed and Drive D are for back ups and important files to save . don't forget to install USB SECURITY DEVICE to protect you on virus on any flash Drives etch.

Good Luck;

I got prob on when virus attack my laptop my assignment file has corrupt have any solution?

Hi,

Have you removed the virus from your computer? You can read my tech article on removing viruses by clicking here. There is a chance that if the file itself was infected, and the virus is removed, the file maybe deleted.

If you are using a Word processing program you can see if it saved an older copy of the file, or maybe you have a backup. These would be your only options at this point.

Completing a recovery without a disk?

This is a common virus attack that will throw you out everytime you login, or licensing issues

For virus problem is bit tricky and needs to deal with registry settings and also need network computer

Try following

Log on to a networked computer.
Run Regedit.exe
Point your cursor to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Select File > Connect Remote Registry
Type computer name (infected computer)
Navigate to the following location in registry of destination or infected computer

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Edit below two values in right pane:

Shell
Userinit

Change the two values to
Shell=explorer.exe
Userinit = c:\windows\system32\userinit.exe
close the Registry
Restart Infected computer.
You should be able to log on to computer. if it not work then go to back steps and just copy and overwrite the file userinit.exe from installation source.

I have a dell optiplex 170L and i can't get it to boot into windows..won't go into save mode either..keeps trying to log in then immediately saves my settings and we're back to the log in screen..i don't...

You have contracted a virus that has corrupted your "userinit.exe" file. This is why it logs you out right away. Unfortunately, you are going to either need to get your hands on a Windows install CD or will have to slave your hard drive to another computer. Instructions on how to recover from the log out problem are contained near the bottom of the page at the link below...

Once you solve the problem, you will need to get yourself a good antivirus program and get that system cleaned, pronto...

E machine computer. starts up then it goes to the

This is caused by two files that are corrupt on your system. If you can get to another XP computer and get the following two files from the windows\system32 folder and copy them to the same location on your hard drive. The easiest way is to connect your hard drive to the other computer as a slave and copy them.

The files are: userinit.exe and wsaupdater.exe

Hope this helps

Sound of my computer

go to http://www.download.com/Trend-Micro-HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10227353.html and download 'Hijack This!' self installer. Save it to the desktop or other suitable place. DO NOT just press run from the website Double click on the file and it will install to C:\program files\hijackthis and create an entry in the start menu.
Click on the entry in start menu to run HijackThis
Click the "Scan" button, when the scan is finished the scan button will become "Save Log" click that and save the log.
Go to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log back here in a reply.
It will possibly show issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required,
so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.
