How do I use the split screen on my Dell computer?

The universal way to display a split screen (on laptop screen, and on monitor/projector at the same time) is to hold down the function key (Fn) and press F5. You may have to press F5 a couple times.. by pressing F5 is cycles through a couple different modes (external video only, laptop/external video, and then back to only laptop screen).

I am trying to connect my acer one netbook with a vga connector to my apex ld4688 lcd tv and tells me no signal

Hi there,

On the acer one hold down the blue Fn button and look for a screen like caracter that is blue too. I think its F5 or F6. Press one of those while the Fn is holded down.

Good luck.

My screen on my laptop is broken. Can i plug a monitor into my laptop?

1) connect your external monitor to the laptop and then switch the monitor on
2) boot up the laptop
3) after it has successfully booted, you need to identify which function key toggles the external monitor on/off
4) you should be able to do this by holding down the Fn key and trying each of the F keys in turn, waiting a few seconds after pressing each one
5) begin by holding down "Fn" + "F3", "Fn" + "F4", "Fn" + "F5" etc.

If this doesn't work, it may be worth examining all the keys and look for a small monitor symbol on one of the keys. If you find this symbol, hold down the Fn key and then hit the corresponding key with the monitor symbol.

My srceen goes Blank

Hi,

first try booting the laptop and pressing the Fn key with the numerical ( numbered key ) that has a picture of 2 screens on it. This is for booting to an external monitor. you could also try adding an external ( pc monitor ) this will eliminate any motherboard Faults.

Secondly, the graphics chip driver may be corrupt or not installed correctly. if you have a restore cd, you could try booting the laptop, with the cd in the drive.

you can then try, to see if the settings in the bios are all correct, by booting/starting the laptop and pressing esc or F2 or delete immediately as the laptop starts. ** Be-Careful** what you adjust.
My suggestion is to look for. ** default settings tab** or load setup defaults.

these are the obvious things to try, before assuming that you have a faulty graphics chip or motherboard fault.

How to hook my sony VAIO to TV via HDMI

Hi there Dream,

There is a toggle function for switching the display. It cycles from normal to external to both.

You are looking for one of the F-Keys (Normally F5) should have a little rectangle between two vertical lines. It's supposed to be a monitor.

To cycle the display, press the Fn key (near the space bar), then the F-key. Your standard display should go blank. To get it back, do the same thing.

If your TV still displays nothing, Check which input its using.

This should get you going.

I have an acer 5335 aspire laptop and tried to connect it to a 127cm lg plasma via vga cable. I changed the resolution on the laptop and tried using Fn F5 key however no result.

Does ur video card support tv out?
If it does, u cannot use ur screen AND a tv at the same time. It's one or the other. Go to the display options and select the tv out option for ur vid card. Ur screen will go black and the tv will then have ur desktop.

Brand new Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5868 laptop display screen has gone black, even though the computer is on.

Since your laptop is brand new , you may not be familure with it's function keys , FN

Sometimes the users accidentaly presses the FN and the F5 monitor function key at the same time.
which effectively turns the notebooks display off.

D in the image below is the FN function key
and the monitor function key could be F5 , it will have a little monitor symbol on it.

When they are pressed together it will turn the notebooks display off and enable any VGA monitor connected to it's VGA ports. when pressed again , they will turn of the VGA port and turn on the notebooks display.

How can i get my laptop to play through the tv? I have all the connections done correctly.

Most laptops have function hotkeys to "toggle" between on screen internal lcd and external monitor or s-video. My laptop it is the
FN + F5 keys or on my taskbar is the Intel Video Icon to select then when the manager comes up, select multiple monitor, apply, OK
