You definitely can't be helped if you won't specify your make and model of mouse, though I kind of suspect it's a corded mouse that doesn't take batteries, and that it's gone bad on you (in which case you get to label it securely with the problem it has, and put it in the spare parts bin.)  Maybe there are replacement parts for mice available on eBay now, but that's new to me; get a new one with cool features like force feedback or wireless or such, from justdeals.com or an accessories dealer with good prices, or from a promotional firm that can get you 20 to give away with your logo on them for $200.

Welcome to FixYa!

Here's a quick checklist to resolve your wireless mouse connection.

Solution 1.
1. If the underside of the mouse has an on/off switch, make sure to set the switch to the "On" position.
2. Make sure that the battery of the wireless mouse is placed correctly and is not drained.
3. After checking the first two steps, the optical lens on the underside of your wireless mouse should be flashing once in a while. If not, there is something wrong with the battery, the wireless mouse switch, or the wireless mouse itself is defective.
4. Connect the USB dongle in the USB port and let it install automatically.

Solution 2.
5. Connect the USB dongle in another USB port and let it install automatically.

Solution 3.
6. Restart the computer with the wireless mouse turned on and the USB dongle inserted in the computer.

Solution 4.
7. Download and install the drivers from here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&softwareitem=ob-47909-1

I hope that this will help.

Batteries ran down in the optical mouse. I put in new batteries and now I can't get the mouse to work. it's frozen

Remove the battery off and keep aside from within the mouse. Now disconnect the USB - optical detector to the PC. Shut down the PC . Replace battery once again and power the PC, then connect the USB to see if the mouse is detected.
If not remove off installed software of the optical device and reinsert once again so that it gets detected.

How do I hook the wireless mouse

2 AAA batteries go into the Mouse itself.
You plug in the USB transmitter into any USB port (Windows will recognize the install the proper drivers for you automatically).
The Mouse should have a SYNC button (push that button after you add the 2 AAA batteries and have plugged the USB transmitter into a USB port).

Microsoft wireless notebook optical mouse 1024`

I have a Microsoft wireless optical mouse 3000. There is a silver button on the end of the mouse that usually faces you when using the mouse. Press that silver button- while holding the button in, use your fingernail or something to help with gently lifting the main panel on the top part of the mouse. Lift up on the end of the panel that is closest to the silver button. The panel comes entirely off, revealing the inset battery. It took me a while to figure it out since I installed the first battery.. it has lasted over a year. Hope this helps with yours. Have a blessed day!
