Ok i got 1996 pontic grand am it wont start but only turns over and it just died on me

Like a campfire, search for ignition (sparkplugs SPARK!), AIR (air cleaner- is it plugged with a dead cat crawling up there or what?)
Or my favorite, FUEL. (dies the fuel get to the injector> is the plug wet from fuel?) . One of those tings usually keeps a vehicle from starting.

First I suggest scanned the fault codes stored there; turn the ignition key (without start engine) "on/off on/off on" and read odometer codes Pxxxx. Note this codes and send us for other details.

Get the vehicle scanned,there is error code stored in ECM,that code will tell what part exactly to look,for:----

check the coils. i had the same problem with the wifes car. #1 and #4 coil was dead

Check the crank sensor. And the cam sensor

I need more info is it the 2.3L Quad 4?
if so it's a Pontaic, Buick, Olds engine if not you got me
