Yes you can. There are numerous ways to do so. Supply the exact model you have and I will see if there is a button on the laptop to perform this function.

Another solution is to disable the touch pad in the device manager. The exact steps will depend on the operating system. Supply the version of your operating system and I will post the step by step instructions.

Overly sensitive keyboard curser while typing on my Acer Aspire 7551-7422

Sometimes the heat from your hand passing near the touchpad is enough to move the cursor. I hate that too. If it really bothers you then you could always use a wireless mouse and disable the touchpad in "Device Manager"

I want to disable the touchpad on the acer aspire 5532 but cannot seem to do it please can you advise

You can disable it by doing one of these 2 steps:
1.If you want to uninstall the driver "FOR EVER" you can uninstall it from the device manager page from the search toolbar.
All the steps are down to see where is the uninstall button.
I prefer to backup driver using the free driver updater and backup DriverMax.

2. If you want just DISABLE it do the following:
Search for device manager
Click on Mice and other pointing devices tree,
there would be a touchpad driver usually its Synaptics
Disable it by clicking right click and then Driver tab and then disable button, you may see the disable button disabled, that is because you don't have another mouse instead of your touchpad, install your mouse drivers then you may can disable it.

I cant get my internal mouse to work anymore. Is there setting that would turn on or off the mouse? My mom always used a plug adn play mouse and now the internal mouse dont work? can you help me

On my acer, holding the function key and pressing F7 will disable the internal mouse. If you repeat the process it will reenable the mouse. This is likely your problem. It may not be the F7 key but the Function keys should have little pictures, and one should indicate it represents the touchpad. If this doesn't work it could be a driver issue. Personally I prefer an external mouse.

Acer Aspire PC Notebook 5315 touchpad not working.

Hey in the control panel, go to the mouse, then look for the properties that have a PS/2 compatible mouse, you can change its settings there by sellecting other compatible mouse instead of PS/2, and also there is a settings or a check box that says the onboard mouse of your laptop will be disable if a usb mouse will be pluged.hope it soved your problem, :)

Wireless mouse?

Try disabling the mousepad on the laptop. sometimes this is what causes the problem. Another reason might be the mouse batteries. If they are running low you might experience problems like that.
