The wire you speak of comes as part of the light engine. IT is not a replaceable part. Your best bet would be to contact local repair shop and see if they have one from a scrap set.

I have a Sony TV - KDF-42E2000 and the lamp went out. Replacing the lamp looks to cost around $80 but replacing the lamp with all the housing for it is around $250. Do I really need to replace the...

I have a sony KDF-42E2000 and our lamp went out a yr after we purchased it. I found the lamp with out the housing on eBay and there was a video on how to take the old lamp out of the housing and replacing it with the new lamp. Now I am a female with NO experience with doing that type of thing, but I was able to do it with ease. So you can swap just the bulb. Also we just had to replace the lamp again and this time on eBay there was the lamp with the housing for 91.00. Easy as pie... But now the problem is that there is a red band across the top of the screen. Just got off the phone with Sony and they said that to fix it, it was going to be around 1K but they will let me choose between 2 different TV's at a reduced price. Apparently there has been a lot of issues with the TV's to the point where this is what the specify in the email: In consideration for Sony making and you accepting this offer, you agree to release and hold harmless Sony Electronics Inc., and its affiliates, officers and directors from any and all claims for damages, loss, cost, expense or liability both known and unknown, which you may have incurred in connection with your television.
So no matter what you decide as far as lamp vs lamp and housing, be aware you might end up contacting sony at 800-200-SONY to get an offer of a discounted tv.... Good luck!

Samsung 50" DLP - Lamp Light Blinking after bulb replacement

Listen closely. The tv should make a high pitch whine as it turns on. If it does wait and see if it tries this a few times. If yes then check the bulb, I have seen cases where the lamp shoves the power connector back into the set. If the tv starts with a grown or heavy vibration noise, then your color wheel may have broken and needs replaced.

Replaced lamp, still no picture, but have sound

HEY SAM SOUNDS LIKE THE LAMP IS NOT THE ONLY ISSUE,IT COULD BE YOU'RE 5 VOLTSUPPLY IS LOW THE ONLY WAY TO BE SURE IS TO REMOVE THE MANY SCREWS HOLDING THE BACK ON AND ALSO REMOVE THE METAL SHEET TO GET ACCESS TO THE PLUGS ON THE LITE ENGINE AND USE A VOLTMETER TO TEST FOR 5 VOLTS. IF YOU FIND IT IS IN FACT LOW YOU'LL NEED TO REPLACE THE 6 CAPACITORS THAT YOU WILL FIND HAVE AGED (THEY LOOK BUBBLED) THAT ARE ON THE POWER BD. GOOD LUCK. JOE TV
