Network card disappeared overnite

Before adding any ethernet card, try to restore your system by using system restore option available with windows to a date on which your system was perfectly working. If the your system works fine after that, then it is quite likely to have your system infected by malicious software or anti virus. Scan your system for virus. If the ethernet is not working then add a new card after disabling the on-board network card in the CMOS setup.

New graphics card installation won't work. during start-up it does not find this piece of hardware, even though the fan on the card is running.

Hi klaas_smit_w,

You might have forgot to install the graphic card driver.
But first, make sure that the graphic card is installed properly in the slot of the motherboard.
Restart your PC and your PC must detect your graphic card immediately.
Install the driver of the graphic card and reboot.

Hope this helps you a lot.

Thank you for using FixYa!

I keep losing broadband connections on some web sites, i have replaced the ethernet cable and ethernet card looks ok?

Unless you lose connection on every single page and website,
its not your Ethernet card or your carrier, its there's.

Just buy looking at a card, there is no way to tell if it is ok, when the card goes bad it does not look different or change color.

Do a speed test on the card and see if you are getting the same speed and the card is rated for.

We re booted the computer and have to use a usb

Not sure what the problem is, but from what i am reading i am suprised that anything worked at all. A modem jack in your computer is for telephone lines, and the cable modem needs a cat 5 network cable as well as a ethernet card attatched to your computer. ethernet card in your computer cat5 cable runs from the card to the cable modem. Magic jack requires a usb connection as well as a broadband connection to work.

Adding a PCI ethernet card?

One port on the router is an "Ethernet" port -- look closely to see the 8 wires in the socket.

You'll need a similar 8-wire connector on your computer,
and an "Ethernet-cable" that has 8 strands of wire.

Adding-in the PCI Ethernet card will add an 8-wire connector,
so that the Ethernet-cable can be connected.

Be sure to buy a 'PCI' Ethernet adapter, not 'PCI-E', and not 'ISA'.
It may come with a CD-ROM containing software to be installed.

Don't pay more than $20. Or, find a "computer-geek" -- he/she probably will have one or more "spare" PCI Ethernet cards to give to you.

On completion of installing an aol broadband router, the PC does not detect modem router

use ethernet rather than USB, if ethernet is used, no drivers or installation is needed, and it will be a faster and more reliable connection...
if you are using ethernet, no need to install.

No Local Connection Icon / No broadband connection

Have you checked the Device Manager to see if the Ethernet adapter is even listed, or if it is does it have a warning symbol on it for Ethernet Controller? Use Windows Help to get to Device manager if you are not sure how to. It could be that your Ethernet Controller (Local Area Connection) is disabled in your BIOS as well. Look there to see if it is, or Load Defaults option in BIOS and Save Changes, as that will enable the Ethernet Controller by default if it is working.

I have an Acer T135. I want to install a Linksys Wireless-G PCI Adapter. I believe I have to remove the factory installed Ethernet card. If true, where exactly is the Ethernet card, what does it look...

You dont have to remove the ethernet card, as i suspect it would be buit onto the motherboard in anycase. Just install the wireless card into a free pci slot.
