My son and I also went to look at the moon and all we see is bright light but it is not clear. You can't see any details of the moon. What else can we do?

Turn the scope backwards and point the tail towards the daylight sky. My guess is you will see light. If you see a fish eye like view of the world then point the scope at a distant scene and wait until night. Sometime trying to use too much magnifation makes it hard to find and focus on night time objects.

If the fish eyeview looks twisted then my guess would be a lens element has become un mounted. Most likely it will be in the eyepiece but if this is a spotting scope it could be in the image erector lens bundle. I had a Vvitar that dropped a bundle in the zoom eyepiece when the zoom was twisted too far. The little screw that held the bundle in aligment was sheared off and had to be replaced. Obtain the small screws from a camera store.

This is a VERY high dollar telescope. Something is broken with the "tuning" lever. Return it for repair. Do not take it apart.

Put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the focuser. DO NOT use the 2x barlow if you have one. Go outside and try again.. The end with the focuser is the UP end of the tube. The mirror inside is the BOTTOM of the tube nearest the ground.

Trying to use the telescope but cant see anything

Hi, this is a real handy scope. You need to remove the disk like cover for the high polished mirror located at the but end of the scope. Then insert one of the two ocular lenses provided into the viewing aperture. Next, aim the polished mirror end at something obvious like a street light. Use the range finder located opposite the viewing aperture, (switch red button on) and align the circles with the red dot. Happy viewing!

Science Tech 262 telescope image problems.

TOO much magnification! Hate to tell you but the MAXIMUM magnification for any telescope (all things being perfect-- like optics, and sky conditions) is 50 times aperture. So max for you is about 125 power.

Normally only about 30-40 times aperture is possible. So about 90 power is your normal max magnification.

We see this every Christmas. People buy scopes that say 275 power or 500 power on the outside of the box. It's a LIE!

Even in my 8 inch LX90 I rarely go above 200 power, and only when the sky is clear and very stable. Use the eyepiece with the largest number written on it which will be your lowest magnification.

How to use telescope at night?

Many people have the same problem-- with these small telescopes you are stuck with seeing only the moon, and several other planets, and maybe a few bright star clusters.

These are all TINY objects (except for the moon).... when you look through the telescope you are looking at a section of sky about the size of your fingertip held at arms length-- the scope must be pointed DIRECTLY at the object. Practice on the moon first-- and then try to find Saturn which is up in the sky right now-- it looks like a dim (slightly yellow) star.

This is a normal condition; lenses do invert images just as your own eye does. Even our eyes receive and invert anything we look at but our brains invert them again so we never notice the 'problem' you are having with your new telescope.
