Hi. I have a CM 19001 that
was given to me without a remote control unit. First off, does this model have
closed captioning available on it? If so, is there any way I can turn this
feature on and off without using a remote? Unfortunately, I haven't worked in over a
year and I cannot afford to buy a replacement remote, so I am really hoping that I can use
the close captioning without one.

As long as the remote is the same model as the previous one, the problem is with the unit not the remote. First make certain that you have nothing that might block the signal between the remote and the unit. Check that the sensor or area where it is located on the unit is clean. If all this fails then you need to have the unit in for service.
If this is brand new call the company support number ASAP. It could be something simple you're doing wrong or it could be a defective remote that needs to be replaced under warranty but you MUST call ASAP to be sure to get the problem in the records before the unit is out of warranty.

Hello mar...... You will have to either find the remote or replace it as it is the only way to get into the closed caption menu. If you want a replacement factory remote you can go on line at http://www.replacementremotes.com/
As you used 0060 and it didnt respond please try to programma with the other 3 didgit codes.
If still you cannot programme it follow the below instruction:
1. To control your TV firstly switch on the TV set, point the Sky remote at the TV, 2. Press the "TV" button on the Sky remote, then press and hold the "Select" and "Red" buttons together until the red light at the top of the Sky remote control flashes twice. 3. Continue with this process by continuously pressing "TV" then "Standby" then "TV" then "Standby" etc until the TV set switches off. This will start using the inbuilt codes to programme the remote.
First look at the indicator lamp on the front left side. If it is: off - check the power cord is plugged into a working outlet. Amber - the unit is in standby, press the on button (left most), it should turn green Green - the unit is in operate mode, check the antenna and cable connection. Red - when power is applied, it will be red for up to 30 seconds. If it remains red, the unit is defective. This is a common problem due to several capacitors on the power supply and logic board that have gone bad. The unit is repairable by replacing these capacitors.
A number of Sagem models have shown incompatibilities with the recent Freeview retune, there is a list of affected models (see http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/bsp/hi/pdfs/01_10_09_freeview2.pdf ) but it's not a fully comprehensive list. Sagem error code 07 means there's an access problem in back-up memory (stored in the EEPROM) and code 09 means the machine has been unable to find any data necessary to do an upgrade. In essence, your box has tried to upgrade itself and failed and now cannot restore to it's previous state.
Your dvr62160sl is closely related to the dtr6240 and 6280 models which are known to have had issues and so the official advice is to contact Sagem directly on 0845 0900 316 to find out how whether they can supply a solution on a dvd or if they've scheduled an OAD (over air update).
