Re: how do i refill an ink cartidge?:
There are five holes in the top of your cartridge. You can get the label off with a razor blade or a heat gun. Then inject the ink through one of the holes and hope you don't get an air bubble in the sponge. Do not allow ink to float on top of the sponge as the cartridge will not work.

Often times it is the chip in the cartidge that needs resetting - depending on the brand, there are various tools needed to reset - sometimes needing a new chip. Printer manufactures have gotten stingy with ink and want people to buy genuine new cartidges. The best advice I can give you is try to get to an ink refill shop and see if they can reset the chip in the cartridge.
new cartridge. you can open printer and get cartridge number and buy it online. there are more and more places that refill as well as trade it. cost should be around $10 to $20. shop around. walmart, target, radio shack, best buy all carry these. even places like cvs fill them now.
if you go to lexmark website, you may try to get their software for cleaning the head of your cartridge. this may help, but eventually you are gonna need a new or refill your current with ink.
when you refill a cartridge...they have a life spam...they do not last long... because cartridge are manufacture to be use or refilled by 2 or 3 times...then if it reach the limit you have no choice other than to buy new one...
From doing my research, I have found that the 50C Error message comes from the cartridge, usually if it has been refilled. If this cartridge is new, please return it to the place of purchase for a new one or a refund.
Here's what happens when you refill the Dell Series 2 ink cartridges. There is a sensor in them that cannot be reset.
Dell ink cartridges can only be purchased at Staples, Walmart or Dell's website.
Dell ink cartridges have a sensor that reports the ink level as low
once it reaches a certain level. The sensor can not be reset. If you
refill an ink cartridge that previously reported low ink, it may print
fine, but the sensor will always report low ink. Buying or replacing
ink cartridges with new Dell cartridges will resolve the low ink
Dell discourages ink refills. Refilling ink may lead to print
quality problems, and even eventual hardware problems.
if u have not refilled ur cartridge and u still get this error i suggest u buy a new cartridge.....
