That's normal. I imagine it starts at minus 100 or so. It's not actually documented.

Is there a 'problem'?

If you REALLY want to blow up your speakers, crank it to 11 like Spinal Tap would do ;-)

Nigel Tufnel: The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and...
Marty DiBergi: Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten?
Nigel Tufnel: Exactly.
Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it's louder? Is it any louder?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where?
Marty DiBergi: I don't know.
Nigel Tufnel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?
Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven.
Nigel Tufnel: Eleven. Exactly. One louder.
Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?
Nigel Tufnel: [pause] These go to eleven.

What is the purpose of a graphic equalizer?

A graphic equalizer is designed to allow the user to tailor the music to his or her personal hearing. Obviously not everyone hears frequencies the same. As you get older or are exposed to loud noises you lose sensitivity to certain frequencies. To compensate for that you can boost or cut the fequencies being played through your system. Originally the graphic equalizer was designed to make corrections to bad recordings and deficiencies in the recording medium of the time. Now they are used more to compensate for hearing deficiencies. To understand how an equalizer works you need to understand that ideally the normal person can hear about 20 khz of audio when they are young and have perfect hearing. Probably more realistically they can hear 20 hz to 15 khz. Enter the equalizer. All sounds are heard differently according to the intensity of the frequency. If your hearing is bad, say down 10db at 10khz, with an equalizer you could boost 10khz by 10db and make up for it. An equalizer contains filters which breaks the audio spectrum into bands. Could be 3, 6, 10, 15, 20 or more. The more bands the more the equalizer costs but the more corrective power you have. We have equalizers with 64 bands. . The numbers on the sliders are the frequencies your equalizer can boost or cut. Keep in mind that they are the center frequency and will effect frequencies on either side for about a 10db range. So you can cut/boost frequencies at 50hz (very low), 200hz (low but still bass), 800hz (low to mid range), 3.2khz (range of speech), and 12.8khz (high frequency). The best way to observe how your equalizer works would be to play something and adjust one control at a time to see what it does. You will notice a difference. Then it basically becomes a project to adjust the unit to the way that you like to hear your music. You like bass, boost the low frequencies. Like the highs, boost them. Give it a try.

Mic does not work

You need to check the soundcard settings. Sometimes there is a feature to switch on or off a 10db boost. It could be that it's off and you need to switch it on. Also check from volume control if your mic is muted.

My su-g95 technics Stereo integrated amplifier wont play any noise. and when i adjust the volume it makes a popping/crackling noise. i am 100% sure all the speakers were hooked up correctly.

Well it sounds like your amplifier IC's are working correctly since you are hearing that pop. I have the same amplifier and every 10db increment it pops. Have you tried every input? Possibly try starting at a low volume, plug an RCA plug into CD or any other input, and touch the center prong of the other end of the cable. You should get a 60hz hum if your in the USA, otherwise it will be 50-55hz. Regardless it should make noise.

What kind of device can be used to inprove my tv #2 remote.got a new tv (hd tv) noe tv #2 remote wont work threw wall & doors real good anymore.what kind of device can i use?dish book said something...

Hello! Dan Busa here with Dish Network customer support. There isn't much in the way of any additional devices you can purchase. The best thing to do is to check the silver remote antennae on the receiver, if it's standing straight up you probably need to reprogram the remote. I have Bose speakers hooked up with JVC RX668V and the rear speakers aren't loud enough! What can I do to get more volume?

What models of speakers all around? Certain combinations of speaker efficiencies won't be within this unit's capabilities to compensate the volume.

Starting on Page 17 they discuss how you can adjust the Digital Acoustic Processor (DAP) mode to modify the levels of the rear speakers -10dB to + 10dB.

Starting on Page 20 they have similar settings for 5.1 discrete analog inputs.

Switch on MXL 2003

- bass cuttoff does not allow bass frequencies to pass. This is useful to block unnecessary sounds from being recorded, since there is not much intelligible human voice content in the bass range. Cutting off the bass will minimize the sound of thuds, bumps, breath pops, etc.

- -10dB lowers the signal output of the mic by 10 decibels. This is useful when recording very loud instruments that would otherwise clip some gain stages
