Question about HP Pavilion a800n (PP163AA) PC Desktop
My fan had become louder during the last few days. Now, it shuts off after booting up. The CPU fan is still loud . I opened it and cleaned the dirt off but the problem persists.
it seems like the power supply is shutting off after it has been on for 5 minutes
There's probably dirt still inside the fan slowing it down; it may be instructive to just boot into the BIOS and pull up the health screen that shows temperatures on the board; perhaps the CPU fan or chipset fan is failing and the temperatures are going too high, causing the failsafe powerdown to occur. Just replace the fans and make sure the heatsinks are all mounted solidly; perhaps a new obstruction has presented itself in your PC's airflow, though it is also possible that you're running without A/C and need a better fan in the room or are running an application that really uses up CPU power (causing it to dissipate more heat.)
