When you install a new cartridge, be sure not to touch the contacts, and make sure the contacts on the cartridge align with the contacts on the printer, and all packing tape has been removed. If the contacts on the printter are coated with dry ink, you should clean them with a cotton swab and distilled water. Dampen the swab and wipe off the dry ink on the contacts and let it dryt. Also, run the cartridge alignment on the new cartridge.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you need further assistance. Randy
Try celaning the cartridge contacts as shown here (for a different cartrdige, but same principle). If this does not fix the problem you will need to contact your dealer of the edible ink cartridges for warranty replacement.

The printers are bad about damaging the ribbon cable inside the print cartridge when you replace the ink cartridge. There is a small wire spring that gets pushed through the cable rendering the printer useless. Poor design by HP. How do I know? I did it to mine. It's cheaper to buy a new one then to have it repaired.

The Printer Toolbox opens. Click the

tab. A cartridge may be running out of ink even if the graphic shows
ink remaining (see the note at the start of this section). Lines or
streaks always appear in printouts when the cartridges begin to run out
of ink. Replace print cartridges that are out of ink or low on ink.
