Black cartridge is full. Color cartridges are empty.
Best buy epson printer, use this if you allow only one cartridge

HP Inkjet printers work only if both the cartridges have ink unlike HP Laserjet printers.
If you want the printer to print only in black, Follow the steps
Start --->Control panel -- >Printers and faxes ---->Right click on the printer icon (HP c5100) select printing preferences.
Under printing prefences there u will see an option to print with black or print in gray scale.
Note:HP Inkjet printers like Photosmart C5180 will work only both the cartridges have ink.

My photosmart c4500 is my first and probably last HP printer... works better than the desktop I had from them....
Anyway when you have ink on both sides, if you have grayscale -high quality- selected it will always print full color and burn out your cartridge super fast.
If you select black only, then it will print grayscale.. and I'm talking grayscale--NOT black only.

SOURCE: ink cartridges
Go through your standard print procedure. File>print then look for the properties button which is usually on the top right of the window. Press Properties and look for either Printing in B/W or grey scale. That should prevent your color cartridges from printing. After you check that box, you should be able to print black only.

hp 2600n printer has no overriding settings for bypassing empty color cartridges.if you try it by swapping chips like we do on other models the colour printing will permanantly disable and will never print colour even after you replace colour cartridges.thats the way hp has set up 2600 laserjet.dont even try any bypassing method or you will spoil whole printer.many people fail the printer by just trying to bypass it someway.

Because the printer need all cartridges not empty to initialized and printing, scanning or copying.Just replace the empty ink.
