Magnetic contact on motherboard - c175a3a.jpg The magnetic switch is the small square located in the middle of the A/B/X/Y buttons as noted by the ugly black arrow I drew. Surface mount switch so fat chance you can replace it.

WOODWAY "replace magnetic key SAFETY"

Yes, it is likely that it is the switch directly underneath the magnet - it may be possible to bypass it, but not a good idea. You can order a switch direct from Woodway 1800WOODWAY

Limited power. has brand new batt. casing on the motor has magnetic properties. this tell's me that the motor is going bad. does this sound right. very slow on one, and the other just dont move but inch's.

Magnetic properties are common on all DC motors in that the field is permanent magnets that is present all the time. The rotor is energized by the battery that presents an opposite magnetic flow to the permanent field magnets that causes rotation. I suspect that your brushes that transfer electric power to the rotor is bad/inoperative and needs to be replaced or cleaned. If you look at the DC motor on one end you will find little plastic buttons that screw into the end. These buttons about 1/2in diameter hold down carbon brushes against the commentator of the rotor. If these brushes (2) do not make contact with the windings of the rotor, then nothing happens.

I just purchased my fryer at garage sale today, it's missing the cord. What type do I need to get and where can I find it. Thank you,

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

These cords (unless the magnetic type are available at most hardware stores ("Woods" / Woods Industries or Coleman Cable are the product brand names.) These cords are usually in the area of extension cords.

Having said that... The distance between the pins is the difference. There are 1/2" cords 11/16" plug cords and 1 1/16" cords. I need to know the distance between the pins center to center of your fryer connector terminals.

Most Fryers use a 3 Ft cord and roasters use a 6 ft Cord. You cna use a 6 ft cord but do NOT use it for an extended period. The cord you purchase must be wire gage 16/2 NOT 18/2 in wire size.
The 18/2 gage will only handle 1250 watts.

The part number of the cord will be either 0290 or 09326 (You can net "IMAGE search" these for sources)

Here is one source for the cord.
http://www.hardwareandtools.com/Coleman-Cable-0290-6-Foot-Black-Appliance-Cord-0429928.html

If you have the magnetic base / end plug let me know and I will find you the correct plug.
Just repsond here and say you need the magnetic recepticle cord.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

I have a GBC Shredmaster 2260X. The light on top is blinking that means that the cabinet front foor is not shut. When the front door is shut. I have tried everything I can think of. And it wont work...

most GBX shredders have a magnetic "reed" type switch inside the shredder head that is actuated by a magnet on your door. have you recently lost the magnetic catch on your door? if you have lost it and have access to a strong magnet, you should be able to open door and move magnet around on front side of shredder head and see the light go out. if magnetic catch is on door, then perhaps your door is misaligned in such a way as to not energize the switch.

good luck,
razors

I would like to know the difference between a starter and developer. How does a starter help?

Starter and Developer are eccentially the same thing or perform the same function. Starter is just a term typically used by Minolta and machines manufactured by Minolta. Starter/Developer is simply a component that acts as the carrier for the toner. Toner has no real magnetic properties so in some machines you need a way of getting the toner up to the drum surface. These machines use a magnetic roller and developer to perform this function. The Developer is like a metal powder that the toner mixes with. As it flows around the magnetic roller it carries the toner with it. Then an electrostatic charge on the surface of the drum "attracts" the toner away from the developer roller and onto the drum. That is a simplified answer to your question.

The magnetic resistence level seems to be the same

This unit incorporates an adjusting motor for the magnetic boot. This unit also uses batteries for the upper console functions I would check the batteries first and replace them, if you haven't done so before.
If this does not resolve the problem then it could be the adjusting motor, then you will have to pull the the side panels in order to apply a 6v dc to the motor and see if it moves smoothly, if not then replace motor.

No disc...no answer

hi.
The spindle motor magnets have started to flake, causing the DVD's to slip. like on a slip mat. You need to take the cover off and remove the flaky magnetic particles on the magnets that clamp onto the DVD's. You can put a very light coat of rubber cement on the lower magnet and let it dry completely, this should give the lower magnet/spindle motor some traction on the disc and get it spooling up in the correct amount of time...
