Question about NetGear RangeMax WPN824 Wireless Router (WPN824NAR)

1 Answer

Can connect through Ethernet but not through Wireless

Hi, yesterday I added the NetGear RangeMax WPN824 to get wireless. While I'm directly connected to the router I can get internet, and my computer can "see" the wireless because it asks for the WEP password and when I enter it, I have full range, but when I disconnect the ethernet cable I do not get internet (despite the wireless symbol saying I have full range). Do I need to do something else?

OSX is the operating system and the wireless card is Airport Extreme. I discovered I can access internet via wireless as long as I don't set up a secure network, so it seems to have some issue with the password/security feature.

No you cannot.
To make your printer a network printer you need to connect your printer to a network print server and the connect the print server to the Netgear using a LAN cable.

How do i connect my netgear rangemax wireless router

You should have a manual/setup guide.
BUT, the basics of setting a wireless router are.

Connect an ethernet cable from your MODEM to the WAN port on the rear of the ROUTER.
Connect an ethernet cable from one of the LAN ports (usually 4) to your computer.
You now log on to your router via your web browser, set your wireless security (using WPA2) choose your password.
Save and exit from the router setup, disconnect the ethernet cable from your computer to the router and try and connect wirelessly
Your support page is here, choose which version of the router you have and download your manual

Connecting a router to a gateway

Sure, you just need to change the ip address of the Rangemax. Netgear usually uses 192.168.0.1 for their router ip addresses. Plug the ethernet cable from your PC into the Rangemax. Open a web browser and put 192.168.0.1 into the address bar. You should reach the home page of the Rangemax. Change it's ip address to 192.168.0.2 and save.

Run an ethernet cable from one of the four ports in your Netgear gateway to the internet in port on your Rangemax and all should be well.

Netgear range max keeps dropping signal

Is it cable or DSL? Cable should be fine but DSL gets slower everytime a second or third connection is added.

Netgear rangemax wpn824 incorrecty or won't detect wireless conn.

Check ISP configuration to match Router settings with your supplier requirements.
Your issue seems related with wrong settings on Router WAN configuration.
Check if DHCP is required on your router or if it has tio be configured as a BRIDGE.
Your ISP should be ready to support you. (Or Netgear)

Rangemax-internet only works when comp directly connected via LAN

it sounds like you have the wireless connection to the WAN disabled. Go through the wireless settings on the router and check to make sure it's not being blocked from the WAN/Internet connection.

The best way to make the wireless connection stable is to do some changes on the wireless settings of the router , like changing its wireless channel to the highest one to avoid any interference on your area.........
