Water line broken for Kenmore refrigerator near compressor

I have a Kenmore side by side refrigerator, whose internal water line broke during leveling. The pipe broke near the compressor behind the refrigerator. Water leaks from the broken pipe when dispense lever is pressed. Is it difficult to replace this water line or I need a service technician. Does anyone has a line diagram or procedure how to replace this pipe.

Cut off a piece of line and go to a good hardware store, they can show you how to fix it. Need a coupling, and a nut and ferrel. House water line goes on one end of coupling, nut and ferrel on the broken water line on fridge. A good hardware store will be able to show you how to fix.

i would need a model number because in most cases if the water line broke in the door, you would have to replace the whole door assembly.

I have replaced a defrost heater #AH1993872 in my refrigerator Kenmore side by side, model # 363.50232000, S/N 04727723. I would like to check, wheather the defrost heater works properly. What is the...

The defrost time is about 30-45 minutes. This does not mean that the heater is turned on for the full defrost time. It turns on until the defrost thermostat senses the temperature is at 40 deg F then it cuts the power to the heater. Then after the defrost cycle time is over, the compressor is then powered to continue the cooling cycle.

To test, locate the defrost timer. It looks something like this,

slamfix_39.jpg It can either be found in the temperature control box in the refrigerator compartment, or located somewhere near the compressor. When you find it, look for a round cam on the side. Using a flat screwdriver, turn it until it clicks. With the fridge plugged in, the compressor should be off and the defrost heaters should be warming up. You should either hear the ice crackling and melting and see the water flow down the drain tube to the pan below the refrigerator. After about 45 minutes, the compressor should turn on. Hope this helps you.

What is the clunking noise made after the refrigerator stops running? Its a Kenmore and is 10 yrs old. We have thoroughly cleaned behind and beneath the refrigerator and now the noise seems louder.

The clunking noise you hear , is probably when the compressor shuts off , due to temp reached or when it goes into defrost . An internal motor mount spring , inside the compressor , is broken ( rusted and broke ) . The refrig can go on working for years , without any problem , except noisey , when it cuts off . To stop the noise , replaceing the compressor is the only option . I have heard of placeing objects under 1 leg of the compressor , to " re-adjust " the ballance , but thru my experience , another spring broke , causing more knocking .

Making loud noise when compressor kicks on. Sounds like noise is coming internally from fridge, not locally near compressors at base. Compressor is hot to touch but I do not see anyway to recharge the...

Does the unit cool? See the comments below:

These domestic refrigerators do not have charging valves. They are charged at the factory and then a "process tube" is pinched off and soldered. If you do have a leak somewhere around the compressor area, you may see an oil and dirt buildup on a line somewhere. Another cause of refrigerant loss can be if someone tried to scrape ice off the freezer evaporator using a metallic scraper and possibly punctured the evaporator.

The noise you are hearing may be the internal compressor mounts inside the hermetic compressor case. There is no way to repair this other than to replace the compressor, at which time you could add service valves if you wish.

Also check to see if the external mounts for the compressor are loose, out of place or if any of the retaining clips have broken or otherwise come loose.

If the unit is older, it may not be worth the cost of the repairs.

Jenn air jcd2389ges has a sporadic water leak. I suspect that it is occurring during defrost. A clogged line? How do I access this to clean out?

Your plastic lines at the bottom left side of frig have dry rotted from the heat of the compressor. it will leak every time the water comes on to fill the internal tank. I had the same problem and I replaced mine with copper.

253 55682402 Kenmore Side by Side Refrigerator Not Working. Freezer is not freezing and the fridge part is not cooling properly. Also water to ice maker and instant water in front of door stopped working....

. Cut everything off for a few minutes then turn it back on and listen for a click from the compressor relay as the compressor tries to start.
Is the compressor motor running. If no check starter/overload relay.
Check to see if the condenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running. If no check fan.

Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. should be warm

Refrigerator is somewhat cold as is the freezer side but the freezer side is not generating freezing temperatures. Same temperature btw the refrigerator & freezer. Model 596.50392001. Any suggestions?

Your refrigerator has a defrost timer located near the floor and behind the kick plate. Remove the kick plate grill and turn the timer slowly clockwise until refrigerator compressor stops running. Leave it there for about 30 minutes or until refrigerator restarts. During this time the refrigerator should be in the defrost cycle. Open the freezer and you will possibly hear a crackling noise or the noise of water sizzling as it drips from the evaporator to the defrost heater. If your refrigerator does not restart after this time then turn the timer again slowly until the compressor restarts. If you do this then the timer will need replaced If no defrost takes place during this time then we need to move to the rear of the freezer and unplug the refrigerator and do some test on the defrost heater. Let me know how this worked out for you. The part number for your defrost timer is 10530703

Kenmore refrigerator compressor clicking

Relay on the compressor bad.

Try unpluging for 30 - 45 min until the compressor has cooled down then plug it back in. If it doesn't start replace the relay. Most service techs carry a universal relay and wiil put the relay on, if it starts, your good to go, if not, then the compressor is bad.
