Question about Garmin nuvi 260W GPS Receiver
I too had this problem with the Nuvi 260w. I tried loading the new 2010
map software two times with the same result. Those two times, I walked
away from the computer and returned to find the installation window
The third (and successful) time, I stayed at the computer the whole time. I didn't sit and watch the progress bar the whole time, but did other stuff on the computer, and returned to the status window every so often. It completed to 100% and at the end it indicated to click on the Finish button - this notice was not there the previous two times when I left it alone. I then unplugged the Nuvi and all was fine, the new map loaded, and all worked well.
So I'm thinking that the status window probably needs some type of activity on the computer to stay alive. I also noticed that the previous two times, the img file was smaller than the third time, so the installation to the GPS did not complete the first two times.
I hope this helps someone else with the same problem.
