I get a knocking noise

I get a knocking noise that sounds like it comes from the middle/rear underneath of the car. This only happens when I go over a rough road - heavy chips - not off road rough - surface or speed hump. On a smooth road surface it is not audiable. daewoo lanos 1.6 sx
