I need to replace my keyboard, and its on its way, I also am upgrading to dvd burner and adding ram, so I'm guessing that I'll need to take it apart... Ive had to replace the CMOS battery, nut even then I couldn't get it entierly apart, if you have a diagram or real good instructions email me at shadowworks_2000 at hotmail dot com so I can get it done without trashing the thing.. thanks.

I have removed every screw I could find and am still unable to get to the keyboard. There are three screws under the monitor hinge that I can't get to and maybe those are my problem...Any ideas?

Ditto....how to get the power cover removed? Replacing the keyboard after that should be easy.

There are 3 screw behind the laptop, on the back of the screen hinges. Remove them then open the laptop, and with your finger nails, lift the power cover closest to the screen, it will then raise and you will be able to remove the keyboard.

You need to remove the power cover first ( power cover = where you can see power button)
and then you can see screw that hold keyboard, remove the screw and you can remove keyboard

SOURCE: Keyboard broken on my Acer Aspire 5520

For the Acer Aspire 5520 I'm working on, (Acer Aspire 5520-5156, mode nol: ICW50)

Remove the three black screws under the battery, not the silver screws.

VERY carefuly pry off the power button cover. It will make 'snapping' sounds and if you where gentle nothing will be broken.

The keyboard has no screws holding it and can be slid toward the screen and very gently pryed out, taking care not to tear the ribbon cable, as mentioned before.

When the keyboard is out the cable can be released by gently pulling the cable lock on the header toward the cable, the thin (black in this case, it's usualy a different color than the white connector) plastic part of the connector I just use my fingernails, one index finger on each end slowly pulling till it releases.
Pull the cable out using the pull tab. You can just pull the flat cable out with the pull tab without releasing the calbe lock but you stil need to release the cable lock to properly put in the new cable, then push the cable lock back tight to the connector.

My Acer 5732Z running under windows 7 has a keyboard & mouse prob

First thing to try to uinstall and reinstall the software for your touchpad. Go to Acer and get the latest drivers and or software. Sometimes, just removing the driver and letting windows find it again in device manager is enough to fix it. hopes this helps.

Normally though. keyboard and touchpad are seperate entities. which made me think of the motherboard as that is the only constant between the 2 but, if your touchpad is buggy maybe it is causing issues elsewhere.

Acer Aspire 3000 key jammed on keyboard

Hello !

Remove the key carefully.

With compressed air, clean in and around the area of the key.

If necessary, use Blu-Tack or other adhesive. Put a very small dab and press the key.

Hope this helps.

HERE is a link to the repair guide for the Acer Aspire 9410. With this, you should be able to find the correct method or removing the original keyboard and replacing it. If you have a replacement from Acer, you should have been given instructions on how to replace it manually.

Acer 3000 series laptop

If you mean that you're manually trying to remove the battery then you will have to remove the keyboard for that. Just did it the other day on a client's notebook of 3000 series. There's one screw holding the dvd drive in place which you will see as soon as you raise the keyboard.

Acer aspire keboard replace ment

What is your question? Do you want to know how to replace the keyboard or where to find a replacement keyboard?

This disassembly guide might help you out: http://www.eserviceinfo.com/download.php?fileid=16546 but the pictures are pretty small. Essentially you need to remove a few screws from the bottom of the laptop which will let you carefully pry the panel above the keyboard up and off. Then you will see the two screws holding the keyboard in place. After you remove them you will see where the data ribbon from the keyboard connects to the motherboard. This can be removed by carefully popping the small plastic tab up; the ribbon will slide right out. The replacement keyboard can be installed via the same method.

You can find replacement keyboards on ebay: http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=aspire+3000+keyboard&category0=
