VCR/DVD & Samsung TV: "weak or no signal"

Hi,
recently got a Samsung TX-T3093WH. We're on cable & I managed to make all the correct connections with the TV, cable box and VCR/DVD (a JVC brand). After all connections were made, going to the menu on the TV, one could switch from VCR/DVD (Input/TV selection) to the regular cable stations (Input/Component 1). So far, so good. Until a couple of nights ago. I was away and my Wife tried to switch from the VCR/DVD mode to Cable/TV mode. She hit all sorts of combinations on the 3 remotes (Cable Box, VCR/DVD and TV). She never touched any of the cable/wiring connections for any of the components). The upshot is that the TV plays all the cable channels correctly but will not play the VCR/DVD at all. That is, if I go to the Menu, select Input/TV (which had been the selection to get DVD) all I get is "weak/no signal", even tho the VCR is running. I've tried all the other selections under Input, but get no signal from the VCR/DVD. The connecting cable and VCR work perfectly, as I've hooked it up to our old TV and all plays fine. It seems it has to be related to the TV and it's Menu but I'm at a loss as to how to get back to our original and perfectly working setup? Solution?

Thanks. The problem was in the 2 remotes - VCR & TV. The channel selection didn't jive. After setting both to same channel - 3 - all is well. Your idea of checking the VCR remote settings was the key! Cneers,

That's only on the TV menu. Open the TV Menu and look for Video input. Try to switch the video input to a different line/input, apply the changes, then switch it back to the old settings. Power off all devices and power back on.

No signal from samsung dvd-vr375 and tv

That means the dvd (I assume you meant dvd not vcr) needs tuning to the stations. Press menu, then select the tool box icon(or setup) and select the tuning option. Select auto tune and press go(centre button).
Give it a few minutes to tune in and away you go.

Onkyo TX SR 606 -- Connection Issues with Cable/ Dig Coax Audio

1. Video-out to TV: You should be able to connect the receiver to the TV with any / all of the available video modes.
However, if you don't have the HDMI connection, then the Video-In on the TV would have to be switched back-n-forth between Composite / S-Video, depending on how each device is connected to the receiver. [If the TV has 'auto-sensing' Video-In then it should automatically detect the incoming signal from the receiver whether S-Video or Composite or Component.]

2. Audio-Input to receiver: As the receiver provides only two Coax-Inputs, you would have to first assign Coax-1 to DVD and Coax-2 to Cable. Then connect the coax cables accordingly; that should do the trick and allow you to hear the cable sound over coax.
If you still have a problem then check the 'Input mode' setting; leaving it on Coax-1/2 (Auto) would be the better option. This is on pg. 50 of my manual "Specifying the Digital Signal Format".

VCR will play, but not record.

You gotta connect the signal cable to the input of the vcr and in the output of the vcr other cable to the tv input, when you got to record some program you need put the channel number on the vcr not in the tv if you conect the vcr to the tv in the avinputs the tv will be in video mode, because the vcr receipt the signal.
Good luck

Recording TV

Hi.. it looks as if that particular dvd/vcr is not compatible with the coding digital signals that the hdmi is putting out so it's not converting the signal over correctly.. if you try just using the regular analog cable instead of the hdmi, that might solve your problem.. i hope this helps..d
