Unable to unscrew camera from mounting plate tripod

No instructions came with the tripod I purchased from Kodak for my C875. I managed to set it up seemingly correctly but when I went to remove the camera from the mounting plate, it's stuck. The mounting plate removes from the tripod but the camrera is stuck on the plate itself. I'm unable to twist it off and there's a second little button on the top of the plate that scrapes the bottom of my camera. HELP! How do I get this thing OFF?

The mounting plate may have a small pin with a spring to fit certain kinds of cameras.
Don't try to twist the plate off the camera, that may damage the bottom of the camera.
Instead, the plate should have a slotted screw in the bottom that screws into the camera. Unscrew the bolt with a good screwdriver.

Hope that helps.

It sounds like it's on there really solidly!  If you screwed it in tighter than you could unscrew it, you get to lube it carefully (wrap your camera up in cloth) and get a screwdriver or wrench onto the threaded bolt in the plate, maybe having to go so far as notch the bolt if the bottom has nothing to grab and no button to use to get the bolt and plate to lock rotationally together.

If it makes you feel better it's a common problem.  Screw more softly, and keep in mind that temperature changes can make things tighter or looser due to differences in materials' thermal indices of expansion.
(Which is to say, cooling it off inside or going out in the heat could fix things just as well as oiling and notching.)
(Also; your current problem should be categorized according to the tripod model, don't you think?)

Your best bet is to increase the ISO setting to at least 800. Don't use flash unless you're within 10 feet. My idea if a new camera would be a DSLR. Expensive, has a learning curve, but the results would be spectacular.

Lost mount for tripod can I get a new one?

Velbon QB-4W Quick-Release Platform is a nearly identical replacement for the plates that come with the Dynex tripod. You buy it from:

Try going on to kodaks support section of their website.

http://www.kodak.com/global/en/service/downloads/dln_ekn031332.jhtml?pq-path=9348

Check if you have the latest 'firmware', if you can, or just download the newest one and install it. Instructions are on the site, along with its download link.

I have the same problem, that it's not recognized. I am looking into seeing if it's the new service pack from windows. Or the crappy usb cord, mine is too tight.

I had a similar problem with my C875 Digital Camera until I purchase extra heavy duty rechargeable batteries. Now, I no longer have this problem. When my battery power gets low, I recharge these same batteries.
