My Garmin 305 will not upload data from workouts done inside. I want to be able to upload heart rate. The Garmin monitors my heart rate because I can see it on the Garmin monitor. It will not upload this data to the Garmin Training Center or Dashboard. Also the Garmin does not always ask if I am inside.

    Very helpful. thank you.

Actually I figured out that the Garmin 305 will record heart rate when inside and upload to the Garmin Training Center -- you just have to turn the timer on after the Garmin turns on.

no worries. thanks for the help.

Hi, this is a huge problem with this device and its not because their is a fault with it their all exactly the same, as they are done via gps as soon as you lose the signal it stops sending the data and then it wont send the old data that was done whilst the signal was not their.

everyone has had this problem with these devices so your are not the only one, the problem with gps devices is that as soon as you go inside or an area where their is no signal the data stops sending and the device goes into a sort of standby mode, then when you get the signal back it starts up again and the data that was stored during this time is not sent as it sort of stops working until the signal comes back.

so to answer your questions its just not possible with that device to upload the data to the center or dashboard whilst its not in gps range, i know its a pain but these are to be used outdoors or where their is gps signal and thats why they are made to be used with gps, you could by another device like a wrist watch type device to use indoors and these should be able to sync with your pc, but as of yet this device will only send and receive data whilst it has gps data, i think your right in saying it should be able to do this as a lot of people who use these out doors often go the gym or have got equipment at home that they want to use and want to uplaod the data from devices such as those.

but as these were only made to be used via gps then this is a major downside to the device and is the only downside to it, so for now its just not possible to upload or send the data whilst its not got gps signal

let me know if you need further assistance ok

How do i change a battery in a garmin 305

Hi David!

From your Owners Manual (Page 54)
http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/984_OwnersManual.pdf

REPLACE THE HEART RATE MONITOR BATTERY

"The heart rate monitor contains a user replaceable CR 2032 battery...
Locate the circular battery cover on the back of the heart rate monitor. Use a coin to twist the cover counter-clockwise until it is loose enough to remove. Remove the cover and replace the battery. Be careful not to lose or damage the o-ring gasket on the cover. Then use a coin to twist the cover back into place."

Hope this helps.

Heart rate monitor not working

Remove the batteries and clean the battery contacts inside the device with a common pencil. Then insert new batteries that you know are fresh. That should fix it. If it still won't work for you go to Garmin.com and send it in for repair. Joe

I haven't used my Garmin Forerunner 305 for over a year - but have just started using it again. It wasn't picking up my heart rate from the HRM, so I changed the battery in the HRM but it is still not...

I found this on the internet......

In the battery compartment there’s a gold contact that touches the top of the battery (+ve) which was in a position that would never make contact with the battery. I bent it out slightly, made sure the battery was seated correctly (i.e. flat) and as if by magic my heart rate appeared on the large Garmin display!

Also found this..........

I Have had the same problem couple of times (and forgotten each time how I solved it). I figured it out just now and this is what I did.

1) turn on unit and put on heart monitor (make sure battery is good and wet heart strap)
2) using the mode button navigate the menus to: Settings: General: Accessories: Heart Rate Monitor
3) Once in the Heart Rate Monitor option make sure "Yes" is selected and then use the arrow buttons to highlight "Restart Scan" . Press the enter button to rescan for your heart monitor. (I had to rescan twice)
Go back to the main monitor screen to see if you are recieving heart rate signals.

I am not sure why a manual rescan needs to be done every time but it would be nice if Garmin fixed this issues in a unit software update (my unit has software version 2.80

Hope this helps......

My garmin forerunner 305 HRM suddenly stopped working. I thought it was a bad battery so replaced that, and still nothing. Any other suggestions?

Garmin 305 stops uploading data

Try maybe a different computer and see if it works. If it doesn't then something is wrong with your item. Clearing the history won't help.

Can't upload workouts from Forerunner 305

After deleting all but one month of history on the device, it still would not upload new workouts. It would hang in garmin connect, or indicate problem in training center. The solution, finally, was to delete all history EXCEPT for the new unloaded workouts from the device. They then uploaded.

My Garmin 305 wont record calories when I'm in the Gym. I select the "Other" sport mode, the little guy skiing, and It doesn't recored or even register calories? It records during my Jog sessions while...

The 305 uses distance to calculate calories. They sell a "foot pod" that you can use indoors, and that will count your calories by calculating the distance you have traveled. The problem however, is that using distance to calculate calories is so inaccurate! The calorie count that the 305 provides is almost always WAY too high. Other heart rate monitors use heart rate to calculate calories burned, and it is a much more accurate measure. My garmin thinks i burned 700 calories an hour today while i was snowboarding, and, while that would be nice, there is NO way it's true!!
