PS3 dowloading error

Hey. when i put in call of duty 4 and it starts to begin i get sent to a screen that says in order to play the software online i need to update to version 1.30. i already updated the whole system to 2.40 but this game apparently needs a specific one as well. when i click to install it it loads to around 30% then freezes. it automatically signs me offline and goes to a screen that says downloading error 80710723. my wireless connection is great and the signal strength is great. i can search the internet and everything but i cannot load this software. is there anyway you can help me out, please?

Hello.
This seems to be a common problem with some updates. I know it's a pain but try re-booting your router and restore your setting on the PS3 and the router. Now you DO NOT do a PS3 restore. That will wipe your hard drive. Just reconfigure your wireless settings on the PS3. This should work but there is another way (much more trouble) to fix this. Please keep us posted. I hope this helps you out. Good luck!!

Call of Duty World at War ps3 will not start

Check the 24 Hz setting in the BD/Blu-ray setting area. Some televisions do not support this option. Turn it off. It will prevent blu-ray movies from playing.

My PS3 wont started up

Hey did you try a hard reset?
Shut the system off then turn it on.
You should now have the red light on the ps3.
Hold the power on and it will kick green beep then go back to red.
Then try to push power again.
If not it may be the heat transfer compound in the system which is wearing away causing it to over heat and shut down as a safety percaution.

Hey fyocksofresh,

If performing a system update with your PS3 fails, you may wish to try updating using a USB flash drive and your home computer instead. In order to do so, you'll need to create the following folders on the flash drive itself:

PS3 > Update

Once this is done, you'll want to visit the website I've provided below to download the most recent software version. The link should be easily found under the "Download the System Software" heading on the page.

http://playstation.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/playstation.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=275

Once you've downloaded the file and transferred it onto the USB flash drive, connect the flash drive to your PS3 and choose "Update via Storage Media" instead of the normal internet option.

In the event that updating the software this way doesn't work, there are a couple of things you may wish to try before attempting again.

1) Delete all the cache files and cookies from your PS3's internet browser.

2) Power cycle your PS3 (turn it off completely, then back on) before attempting again.

3) Restore the default PS3 system settings. This should clear any potential problems that may be caused by your current system software version.

If none of these help, I'd strongly suggest contacting Sony for more information. You should be able to do so by calling their toll-free hotline at 800-345-SONY (800-345-7669) or by filling out an online repair request form.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron
