Msi notebook cannot access boot menu/bios due to invalid password

That's because the password entered must be what the owner set it to be. BIOS passwords are used to prevent a thief from accessing and changing the BIOS settings.

The BIOs Cracker, a free or paid program can be found on line. That will allow changes to be made, however, any interruption can render the Bios useless and you may not access the Boot instruction set henceforth.

If the boot sequence is wrong, then how can you even try and log into XP, what you're saying makes no sense.

Removing the CMOS battery might and I mean might reset BIOS password, but that has nothing to do with XP and activation.

You can't upgrade until you get XP activated.

So you might as well install XP pro.

Do a search on google for a XP crack if you can afford to buy it.

BIOS is the first function run by a computer when turned on. It is known as "Boot Firmware," and it checks and initializes other components in your computer, such as your video chip, hard disk or sound card. Because this is the initial process in a computer, it can be troublesome for users who forget their BIOS password and need to access the BIOS. Enter the CMOS start-up menu when you turn on the machine by pressing DEL, F2, or CTRL + ALT + DEL during the boot sequence. Go to STANDARD CMOS SETUP. Find control options for the hard disk. Change both TYPE and MODE to: AUTO. Reboot the system. You will now have access to the hard disk. If you have your boot order to boot to CD/DVD before HDD then you can download the Hiren Boot CD, burn it to disc and use one of the BIOS password wipers available.


Alternate method, some laptops will be easier than others. You can open the laptop up and remove the CMOS battery for about 30 seconds to reset all BIOS settings to defaults. The battery will look like a watch battery but about the size of a quarter. or a round disc with a couple wires coming out. Google "CMOS battery for images" Start by openingn the back panels and you may get lucky and have easy access to the battery or you may need to remove either the front or rear body completely.

I would recommend using Kill CMOS software from Hiren's Boot CD.

Try removing both memory sticks and then booting up with just one installed. The bios should notice a shift in the amount of memory and prompt you to enter the bios.

Let me know if that works.

There should not be a password set in the BIOS unless you set it up with one. You can clear the BIOS to BRAND NEW state. Acer can guide you through this if it is under warranty. If it is not, write back and I will help you do this.

This removes bios password from any Dell machine. unrar it and Burn the Boot CD, and then Boot to it.
