We have a 18.2 cu ft. top freezer that is about 3 years old. The problem is the freezer doesn't get cold enough to freeze ice cream but the ice maker/ice works properly. Sometimes,, (this is my opinion) it sounds like the refrigerator runs and then goes into a "resting" mode...and then starts again. The temp on both the freezer and refrig is on as cold as they can go. Thanks for your help.

Hi, I think you have tell wrong model . Please try find out the temperature controller. Your freezer should able to adjust temperature from 0 - 18 Deg. F

check to see if the coilf has a full frost pattern

You need to remember heat rises and cold air falls. The best way to load a freezer is to put meats on the bottom. They take alot longer to freeze and thaw and can save your stock if you have a power failure. Keep non-critical things like ice cream, ice, and other thing towards the top for quicker access.

Try changing the defrost timer. 1-800-673-1262

Check the freezer back wall for snow or frost.If it's there you have a defrost problem.

Call him back. He needs to check the sealed system.

First of all you need make sure that your freezer is freezing enough. Sometimes everything will seem to be freezing ok, but it won’t be cold enough to make the icemaker work. The best way is to squeeze your ice cream, if you have any that is.

Then you need to make sure that the ice level sensing arm is in the down/on position.
If all of this checks out ok, then you need to make sure that nobody turned off the water supply that is sometimes located under the kitchen sink. Also make sure that the ice bucket is positioned properly so as to trigger the ice bucket sensing switch.

If all of this checks out ok, let me know and I can guide you through an icemaker diagnosis by forcing it into a harvest mode.
