Question about ASUS P4S333-VM Motherboard

2 Answers

DDR I couldn't get onto the ASUS site to check compatibility, but on another site I was told it was NOT compatible. So what should I try next? Cannot get 266mhz (pc2100) in any local shops, only 400 mhz (pc3200), but if it isn't compatible they have a no returns policy. I can get the 266 mhz on e-bay at what seems a fair price, but would have to wait for delivery, am using a freinds pc at the moment, but can't keep doing that! lol. Any thoughts on my problem?

Hey, goto www.ebuyer.co.uk you will find the 266 memory, or 333mhz if you are unsure, will be cheaper than the local shops and usually delivered next day. according to the sites it does support 400mhz but i would go for the 266 or 333 if u heard otherwise...

If you need anymore help just ask..

Have a nice weekend

Is the intel core 2 quad compatible with my ddr2 memory

Hello.

The motherboard ASUS P5KPL-AM SE is compatible with DDR-2 no matter what processor you are using, even Intel Core 2 Quad. So if that is your motherboard, then it is compatible.

Hello. My Asus PV5D2-MX mobo takes DDR2 memory modules. Is it backwards compatible with the older DDR memory?

Sorry, but you are out of luck. DDR memory is not compatible with DDR2 memory slots.

DDR2 memory is pretty inexpensive, though. Example: here is 2GB on Newegg for $35:

Just make sure to match the timings to what your motherboard supports.

I need changes my memory 2 pcs @ 1GB DDR1 PC3200 with 2 pcs @ 2GB DDR2 PC6400 in Asus P5VDC-MX Motherboard. please advice. Thank you

Number of Memory Slots: 2×184pin + 2×240pin
Memory Standard: DDR 400/DDR2 533
Maximum Memory Supported:2GB

PC6400(DDR2 800) is not supported by your motherboard. Also max memory is 2GB. PC4200 is the fastest memory you can install. There might be a BIOS update available from ASUS website to increase the speed but you would have to check the site.

I have an asus k8v-mx motherboard running only 512 mb of ram what type of ram would suit this mother board and could i fit a 1 x 2mb ram instead of 2 x 1mb?

Dear Sir,

*********** board is Asus old p4 Mother board. It supports maximum 1GB RAM of DDR 400(DDR1). According to your post your computer having only one 512 MB working RAM. If you want good purformance you can upgrade your computer by purchasing another 512MB DDR400 RAM and install it on another RAM slot.If your computer have only one working RAM slot, you can purchase 1GB DDR400 RAM & install it on older RAM place. I think it solves your problem.if you have any problem come back with more information. I will try to assist you more accurately.

good luck

I can't recognize what specific RAM this motherboard accepts..

Dear sir,

In reply to your post- Generally now a days we use DDR400 RAM(DDR 1) for this type of motherboard. So DDR 400 RAM is More compatible then other RAM,you can use this RAM for your motherboard to obtain good performance.

Ram memory upgrade not recognized in system info.

does your mother board ddr2 compatible? do you have the manual of your motherboard? because there are brands listed in your manual which are compatible. if you have an existing ddr installed temporarily uninstall this and try this ddr2 512mb alone and let it run, if a beep beep sound occurs that means this is not compatible with your computer. remove this and bring this together with your ddr that work to your supplier, ideally the cast latency timer of these should be the same including the brand. hoping that this will help you

Memory Issues

PC2700 (DDR333) memory and PC3200 (DDR400) are backward-compatible with PC2100. Memory is designed to be backward-compatible, so generally speaking, you can safely add faster memory to a computer that was designed to run slower memory. However, your system will operate at the speed of the slowest module or system component (the "lowest common denominator" effect). One thing to keep in mind is that the memory does need to be the same type-for example, SDRAM cannot be mixed with DDR, and DDR cannot be mixed with DDR2. Let me know if you have any questions. Good Luck, Tim
