If the compressor is running, you have a freon problem. If the compressor is not running, you have an electrical problem, unless the compressor itself is bad.

My coleman central electric furnace only blows cool air

The AC unit outdoors must be running and rejecting heat by its air flowing through it the 2 copper lines are the refrigerant lines, the fatter one should be "beer can cold" if not its low on refrigerant or not running.

Air conditioner comes on but is not cooling the house....new house, new unit

Try going outside and locate your outdoor unit. If the thermostat is on, and the fan is running inside, the outdoor unit should be on as well. If it isn't, locate the circuit breakers in your breaker box. There will be two. Trip them back and all the way forward.

If the unit is running outside, sometimes the air cond contractor forgets to come back and charge the unit with refrigerant. In this case be sure to contact the air cond contractor that installed the unit.

Hello i have Carrier Weathermaker 38tkb air conditioner unit. It's about 6 years old and when i got home today, the unit itself wasn't working. Although the blower fan in the furnace inside was blowing,...

The humming noise and dimming of the lights is an indication something in the outdoor unit is locked up or has failed.

Check the capacitor as it may have gone bad. If the capacitor is good, then you either have a failed motor, a failed compressor, or both.

Carrier air conditioner isn't cooling the house. It is blowing air, but it doesn't seem to be cool air.

Check the outdoor unit to see if it is discharging hot air out of the top ofd the unit, check the insulated suction line to make sure it is cold or sweating. Try to listen to the outdoor fan and the compressor to make sure they are both operating

Our air con runs, on heat, and after a time cuts out, blows cold and makes a sort of hissing noise (but not a real hiss) and then shuts down. It then restarts after a couple of minutes. Is this normal?

Yes.Think of a heat pump as a A/C in reverce in cool indoor coil is cold&outdoor coil is hot.Naw indoor coil is hot &outdoor coil is cold&fan is pulling in cold air from outside.its going to iceup& go into defrost cycle. If your unit has a timed defrost every 30,60,or90min.(witch ever yours is set for)Defrost control board checks a sensor on cond.coil,if it is frozen unit goes into defost. You will here a swishing noise, iis the reversing of refrigerant.you will also notice the outdoor fan is not operating&at termanation of defrost fan will blow out steem.the other metod is on demand defrost.when coil freezes unit defrosts.

Coleman Evron CH/CA unit won't blow the air through the vents

Relay for fan operation in the cooling mode may be bad and not bringing on the blower for the air.
