You didn't give a remote model but check http://www.xdiv.com/remotes/ to see if yours is listed there.

I have a Sony Blu-Ray player and bought a GE universal remote model 24927 and did a auto code search and still dont work

There is no set-up code to Sony blu-ray player with GE URC. Try these codes. If you wish to get more details; check the sites linked here. It has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Common codes to check devices with different brand TVs are given, in the order of the device's brand name list in alphabetical order. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience.

What is the unlock code

If you just need the unlock code see below

You will need to use a "universal" remote control like the One4All 'Kameleon'.

Firstly configure the remote for your sony DVD player:

1. select dvd device on remote
2. hold magic button until rabbit comes out
3. enter device code 0533

Now we need to program buttons 1..5 (you may want to use the buttons with roman numbers at the bottom of the remote, and use another button for V, which doesn't exist) with the following codes, read below for instructions:
1 - 189
2 - 255
3 - 095
4 - 221
5 - 079

For some "universal" remotes, all of the buttons you need to reprogram need to be prefixed by 00. So 1 would be '00189'

This is how you program those numbers:
1. Hold magic button until rabbit comes out.
2. Press 994.
3. Press magic (don't hold).
4. Enter 3 digit code from above.
5. Press button (1..5) where to program it.
6. Repeat steps 1 to 5 for all keys.

That works, but more information on macros is included in the one4all manual for you particular model.

Having set up the remote with the codes unlock the player as follows:

1. Remove disk, put player on standby.
2. Press 1,2,3,4,5 - SUCCESS is displayed and player starts up.
3. Press 1,2,3,4,5 - player shuts down and the unit is region free.

Note that you try this at your own risk as Sony do not support this "feature".

How to reprogram a universal remote control?

http://www.remotecentral.com/features/remotes.htm

Instructions
    • 1 Find the brand of the universal remote you own on Internet sites like Remote.com (see Resources below).
    • 2 Click on your universal remote brand on the website to find the code list for that remote.
    • 3 Check to see if your remote is preprogrammed to operate your TV, VCR, or Cable Box using the following codes: TV - 000, VCR - 000, Cable Box - 000, AUX - use VCR code 037.
    • 4 Manually turn on your device. Hold down the "Code Search" button on your remote, then press and release the device button you want to set up until it flashes.
    • 5 Push the power button repeatedly until the device turns off, then hit "Enter."
    • 6 Press any other button while the device is on to see if the device responds. If it does, you don't need to do any other programming. If it doesn't, repeat steps 4-6.

It should work. TRY These codes.
