First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

Hi, Lets try this to isolate the problem.
1. Hold down the power button just to check if the power button switch is not the one defective, if it continues with initialization then switch might be defective,
2. Second isolation was the power supply, since you had changed it already we proceed to next step,
3. remove/reset the cmos battery, the memory and the processor for 20 minutes and other cards in expansion slot.
4.After 20 minutes install the battery, memory and processor and video card. If it has the on board video, use it first before using the video card in expansion slot if any.
5. Power on the PC.
6. If still the same our last resort of problem would be the mother board itself.

if you fully restored your os(window xp) you might want to get on a computer with internet access and download and install the drivers for your system just copy and paste the link below and you'll find what your looking for. good luck

The fan has a third wire, that is used to tell the uProcessor that it is spinning and in some cases how fast.
Replace the fan and that should fix it. Spares form many suppliers on ebay

write down the model number or the volt of your CMOS battery and go to any computer hardware shop..
buy the CMOS battery corresponding to your model number or your battery's volt...

all the CMOS battery are almost similar

new power supply should do it other wise motherboard or processor stuffed

Whenever you ask a tech question you must always begin with a model number / part number,etc. HP makes hundreds of different model Presario Laptops and each has it's own quirks. Only with a model number can an accurate diagnoses be made.

intermmittent restart is as a result of RAM incompatibility or
corrupt system files

1.change the RAM with a good one

2. repair the operating system
