    Generally:
"You turn on your printer, load it with paper, click the Print button, and nothing happens. Here's what to do:

    1. Check the obvious. Are you out of ink or toner? Is your printer
getting power? Are all the cables securely fastened? If you have a
laser printer, is it set to online mode?

    2. Are other print jobs blocking the way? Go to Start | Control Panel | Printers And Other Hardware | Printers And Faxes. Double-click the icon for your printer to open the Documents window and clear any pending print jobs by selecting Cancel All Documents from the Printer drop-down menu (see Figure 1).

    3. Try printing a test page from the printer, not from Windows XP.
Most printers have a built-in test function that's activated by holding
down one or more buttons while the printer is starting up. Check your
printer's user manual for instructions. If this page prints
successfully, you know the problem is either with your connection or
with the software in your computer.

    4. Check your printer's USB or parallel connection.

    5. Try printing something simple from Windows' Notepad. To open Notepad, go to Start | All Programs | Accessories | Notepad,
type a few lines of text in a document, and try printing it. If it
successfully prints, the problem is with the software program you
      originally tried to print from.

    6. Try printing using Windows XP's generic printer driver. Open and
run the Add Printer Wizard. When you get to the Install Printer
Software screen, select Generic under Manufacturer and Generic/Text Only under Printers (see Figure 2).

    7. Select No for Do You Want To Use This Printer As The Default Printer? (see Figure 3). Click Next.

    8. When prompted on the next screen, tell Windows XP to print a test
page. If the page successfully prints, then you probably have a problem
with your installed printer driver. Either update or reinstall the
      driver.

If you send document to printer, and printer acts same as if it was printing (slide page slowly inside making noise).
    Check the cartridges,
Check that you removed the cellotape on top.
    Remove and put back cartridges.

If the above did not fix it the cartridge may be dry or faulty, or the printer have a faulty print head, which must be repaired at the repairshop.

If printer does not take paper at all check that the printer is not trying to pick up paper, if it does it is a mechanic problem with the traction wheel.
Try putting more paper, and playing a bit with the tractors.
If it does not work this is another job for repairman.

If printer slides paper fast, then is not starting priter process.
Reinstall driver, if it does not work it is either a system problem or an hardware fault.

If it does not print and you have red light on than there is a fault , check for small pieces of paper or foreign objects inside. Unplug and plug back power cable and USB. If it is not that is an hardware fault
If your problem is not the above, but is that you want to print black and white instead of color do the following
    Check your printer settings.
Open the installed printer in printer folder,
Click right mouse button on Canon MP390
    Select properties.
Check that is not set to print only color.

Did it print all the stuff in color?

If it does print only color and black is missing the black cartridge is fault or dry or empty. Test at least one different cartridge. If it does not work it is the black print head broken.

INK PROBLEM
Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent ink drying out and blocking the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer than replace the print head.

Hello, sounds like your drivers are messed up, reload them to the computer or the connection cable maybe bad. If neither of these fix then the printer is bad.

Printer won't print. I went to printer and it says there are 9 items to br pringted in queue but they won't print Printer says it is ready

Good Day Nanawhit!

That happens all the times when first print job encounter a problem and stops printing and it was followed by series of print jobs. Some reasons for stop printing could be a printer out of paper and printer not set as default printer.

The best way to fix it is to cancel all pending jobs. When print jobs window is cleared off pending print jobs, restart your PC and your printer. Then go to your printer and make sure it is the default printer.

After that try printing a test page. Once a test page is successful, you can now print as many as you want.

My HP deskjet 2050 all-in-one printer only shoots out blank paper and won't print. It used to say there was no paper in it, which there was. It scans & prints just fine - just won't print...

Any error messages on the printer digital screen or the desktop? I take it the "The ink is fine" means that there is ink in the cartridges!

Try a test print via the Control Panel> Printers and Faxes> properties > Print test page.

Quicken reports won't print

Go to printer under control panel and right click on the printer - select printer properties...advanced tab...check print directly to printer. Checks should print now. Downside...everything prints directly to the printer (no spooling) which can be slow at times. Also I have found printing pdf's using this option won't print so you'll have to change it back. I'm using Windows 7
