I have had my Sv2000, WV10D6 for a little over a year now. I have recorded on plenty of discs, and lately i am having trouble recording on Memorex DVD+R 16X, 4.7 GB, 120 min discs. I have recorded on these discs with no problems before and now, when i try to record on them i get this: E4 Cannot Record on this Disc 54040990. I have tried finding a solution in my owner's manual but have not been able to correct the problem. All it says in trouble shooting is to turn off the recorder and unplug it, then plug it back in. Sometimes the recorder will allow me to record on a disc, and other times i have to try pushing the record button several times before it will record. Someone please correct this error.

I have been having this same problem. VERY frustrating.
I just keep trying different disks, and sometimes it will record and then other times it won't. I have about 4 disks that I keep rotating and it will record a couple times in a row and then not record the next show. No rhyme or reason to it!!!

Mine was doing just fine and then I started getting Redording Error Cannot record on this disc. E 4 54037380. I have tried cleaning the DVD, retrying, everything I can think of. It seems to happen mainly with Maxell DVDs.

I have had this problem with DVD+R and DVD-R for years. I clean the disk with water and reload. No problem recording.

Which brand of DVD-R disc did you use? What error did you get? What is your video source? Most TVs don't give video output. The tuner on the WV20V6 is an NTSC (analog) tuner. Thus you need to use a set-top box (OTA digital-to-analog converter, cable or satellite box) with the recording "channel" set to video input 1 for most channels or analog cable input to the recorder.
Verbatim DVD-R 8x, Maxell DVD-R 8X/16X and JVC DVD-R 2X have been tested and proven to work by the manufacturer. A number of DVD+R and DVD+RW or DVD-RW have been tested as well.
I've found that you have to test each batch of DVDs. Different manufacturing plants can lead to bad discs from a previously good brand.
The manual for the WV20V6 is available from Funai Corp (who manufacture the recorder for SV2000). The direct link is http://www.funai-corp.com/support/om/WV20V6.pdf . See page 25 of the PDF for tested optical discs. No CD-Rs will work.
I hope this helps. Please add a comment with more information about your situation for additional support.

Hack region code for SV2000

I found this info.....it doesn't work for my model SV2000 ( WV806 ) , but it might for yours SV2000 ( WV10D6 )

With the recorder on stop, not on a menu screen. press on remote; CMSKIP-1-2-3. this will take you to a page labeled "F/W VERSION DISP" this will display the current firmware version and model numbers. To exit , press the "RETURN" button. DO NOT PRESS "OK" on remote , pressing "OK" will reset your player settings.

View disk manufacturer information:

with a disk inserted into recorder and stoped, not on a menu screen; press on remote CMSKIP-1-2-3 to go to firmware information screen.press the rigth arrow "->" once. this will display the disk media type and disk manufacturer ID. To exit, press the left arrow "<-" once to go to the firmware display screen, then press the "RETURN" button. DO NOT PRESS "OK" on remote , pressing "OK" will reset your player settings.
