My Plasma TV

I cannot physically take the TV to a shop :(. Will need TWO MEN for that and don't have even 1/2 of a one ;).

Is there a possibility I can have somebody come to look at it and evaluate if it can be fixed or not?

Greetings jo2358,

You could call 1-888-BestBuy and ask for in home service. They should be able to provide service for you, however if there is no warranty on the television, it would be at your expense. I would call and see how much it would be to get an estimate in your home.

I hope this helps!

Blue dots on my tv screen

The model indicated is a Plasma set and if blue dots in motion (moving) may be either on the MAIN board (processes all signal) or it is even possible to be a problem on the power supply board.

Most likely a shop repair as someone would have to look, order board/s and actually replace them to find which board is bad.

This is the nature of repairs in all Plasma sets.

Only boards are sold and no individual parts.

Samsung plasma tv about 6 years old turns off immediately after turning on

Oh yeah!
Did you have to play with "power button" or trying to squish your "clicker" before set went down south?
Probably-yes? Or, have heard loud bang? May be. may be not?
Have your TV was loosing picture or shutting off due to regular usage? If you answered 'yes" at least twice, you need to surrender your efforts to specialists!
There is nothing you can do to revive your "baby", unless you know where to look and what to do next! Diagnostics of Plasma is a "Top Gun" of skills: it will shut down for any reason, when "brain computer" detects a fault! Plasma TV has a dozen of power supplies, plus "sustainers" and "buffers" which are subject of high voltage and high current circuitry. Therefore, those are guarded well by "shut down" system. Each independent power supply is under constant monitoring, to prevent major overload and possibly structural damage of display itself. 6 years old is enough to accumulate multiple troubles. But the first one , which was ignored or considered "self healing" killed your set! not literally, but at this particular condition. Please: don't even dare to open TV, unless you are the semi-pro! You must start from the very beginning , usually power supply, and if that's not a case(bet, you'll find bloated capacitor), then proceed to check sustains fuses and bloated large capacitors. If you see them bloated and any fuse is open(ceramic ones), STOP right there!
Or, call local reputable repair shop.

Can i replace a broken screen on a 42 inch plasma tv a vizio

You can indeed, although they are outrageously expensive. The BEST way, is to get a screen, from a Junked unit, that has had some other problem other than the screen. I often do this in my shop, to effect repair that otherwise would be cost prohibitive.
Why do you think you need a new screen, is it physically damaged? I ask this as screens are relatively "Hardy" and it is usually the electronics that fails and not the Plasma screen

I have a Phillips 42 inch Plasma. I tried

One of two issues/problems:
1) Main Power supply problem
2) High Voltage Power supply problem.
A Good TV Service Shop that works on Philips would be the first place I'd call. It will be much cheaper to bring the TV into the shop instead of having a tech come out to your location.
Possibly a $200 to 300 dollar repair.

50 " Samsung Plasma TV

Get the tech supplier to tell to the manufacture and the store what he told you.

Physical damage on any electronic device is very hard to have serviced under warranty. I have never seen a plasma display crack on its own. But, anything can happen.

I once saw a man drop a newly bought plasma TV in a parking lot outside from where he bought it and the screen broke. He never even made it home from the store!

Maybe you should contact a lawyer or someone who can give you legal advice about how to proceed with this. In different countries and different states the consumer protection laws are different.

Hello drifter,The design of the tv enables the auto search to detect any input signal you have selected. It could be TV (off air, video signals etc) so just switch on whatever inputs to the akai plasma befote you switch the Akai plasma on and let it do the work for you. just relax and watch the tv. recap 1. switch on the input eg video deck, DVD, VCD, or satellite dish. 2. switch on your AKAI PLASMA and 3. wait for the akai to search for your input signals. TRy this simple procedure and if it doesnt work just post back the message. The DON
