Have a 1989 Honda Accord LX and my idle after warmed up, every time I come to a stop my car dies. I've changed plugs, set idle speed a number of times, it will run good for a few days and then it's right back to dying at every stop. Also need to know where the air conditioner compressor cencsors would be.

A number of things could be the problem here:

1. Bad plugs - fouled plugs would cause erratic idling
2. Bad wires - also would cause erratic idling
3. Bad or worn distributor cap
4. Bad MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor
5. Bad TPS (Throttle Position Sensor - this controls the idling speed under all conditions. A bad TPS would idle fine under certain conditions ie engine cold, engine warm with AC on etc but could be bad when truck is warm and at a stop.

IDLE SPEED COULD BE LOW CHECK IDLE SPEED SHOULD BE 650 - 750 RPM.CHECK IDLE SPEED IF OKAY YOU COULD HAVE FAULTY FUEL PUMP OR VECHICLE COULD BE GETTING HOT OVERHEATING SHUTTING OFF ENGINE.YOUR EGR VALVE OR PCV VALVE STUCK OPEN.CODE SCAN FOR FAULT CODES.

may be the idle speed control valve, but first check all the vacuum lines

hi have you tryed the coil or even spraying dampstart over the plugs leads and coil all so put some red ex in the tank thanks ben

The idle speed for my 88 accord lx is 700-850 rpm for standard idle speed. The stalling is a seperate issue. When were plugs, wires, air/gas filters and distributor last checked? How long has engine been running for when you stall? Is the temprature gauge high? Any lights coming on when stall occurs? I am not a mechanic, but a DYI'er. These are common questions I am always asked when troubleshooting my Honda. :)

Possible injector failure. locate by disconnecting injectors one at a time. The one that makes no change is the questionable. Status of spark plugs need chkg also. pull the plugs an the one that looks washed is questionable good luck

Sounds like your timing belt is one tooth off on the cam, this I have seen before especially if it is a twin overhead cam. One tooth off will make it idle really low when stopping at the light especially if the engine is warm.

a good tune up shall solve your problem. replace the ff: spark plug. spark plug wires, air filter, fuel filter, and an oil change, good luck!

Carburetor on a 2002??? Do you mean throttle body? If you changed the throttle body to a different brand or size then your car's cpu should be reprogrammed.
