Pto suddenly stopped working on my late 90's 25 hp dlt lawn tractor

Sounds like your cable might of broken. watch the deck end of the cable when you pull the lever up. If it is not moving the pully, it is broken. If you are trying to start with lever still up, even though the deck is not running, the safety switch is usually up on the lever. Try disengaging the deck lever, sit in seat, apply brake or parking brake and turn key to start. Let me know if that doesnt work and we can go from there.

Just what does an electric clutch do

The electric clutch on a lawn tractor or zero-turn mower turns on the mower deck. Instead of a lever that you pull to start the blades, you pull a red knob.

The advantage of an electric clutch is the belts stay tensioned all the time and the belts should last longer.

Blade engagement lever won't disengage

If this is a manual engagment system all the lever does is to pull a jockey wheel into the back of the belt to tention it thus starting the blades to turn, so either the cable is jammed that pulls the jockey wheel in, or the jockey wheel arm is seized and needs freeing off to allow the jockey to to move to the relaxed position.

Lawn tractor won't start, no sound at all ? starter Service in the area zip code 03301

make sure that the blades are not engaged, that the safety seat switch is not disconnected, check the inline fuse and that the battery is good. As all of these can cause the mower not to start, a common problem with tractors is the lever that engages the blades wear of time, so you may need to pull back on the lever to make sure it is disengaged. Starter gear doesn't move up to engage flywheel gear when started

The solenoid does two things -- it closes an electrical contact to run the starter motor, and also pulls a lever to slide the motor gear up to engage the flywheel. Since the contact is closing, the solenoid itself must be OK, but the lever could be broken, or the sliding gear could be binding or stripped. Since you're looking at a probable replacement, try cleaning with compressed air, then squirting some WD-40 into the starter gear area - you could get lucky! Otherwise, you can replace the starter/solenoid assembly -- you can find replacements on eBay for about $80. Less expensive but more time consuming is to remove the assembly, disassemble, and replace just the defective parts if you can find them. Good luck! Please rate my answer if helpful, thanks.

Craftsman mower will start with pull but not with

When it turns over, is it somewhat sluggish (not as fast as before)? I would suspect your battery is weak, and the voltage drops so low that the engine does not spin fast enough to start. Also, without knowing what type mower this is (which model) it could be the voltage drops too low to generate spark (if equipped with an ignition module)

Whereby pull starting it, you aren't loading the voltage down with the starter, and the ignition module still works... So it starts.

Charge the battery per the owners manual. If that doesn't help, you may need a new battery, or you may have a bad connection between the battery and starter solenoid (heavy cables). If a connection has high resistance, it will drop more voltage at a given current.
